Also known as the cow hitch knot, this knot is mostly used to

attach rope to an object.

1. Bring the two ends of the rope together to find the center of the rope.

2. Throw the center of the rope over the dowl.

3. Thread the ends of the rope though the loop you just created and pull snug..

Variations include the reef knot or Hercules knot. Used to bind
rope around an object.

1. Separate your strands into three sections: right strand, center strands, and left strand.
NOTE: The two center strands never separate so its easiest to think of them as one strand.

2. Place the left strand over the center strands and then under the right strand. It will
form a 4 shape.

3. Thread the end of the right strand behind center strands through the loop of the 4 you
just created. Pull snug.

4. Now we’ll repeat the process but with the opposite strands to complete the knot.
Place the right strand over the center strands and under the left strand to form a 4 shape.

5. Thread the end of the left strand behind the center strands and through the loop of the 4
you just created. Pull snug to complete the knot.

Also known as the clove hitch knot. By tying a series of half
hitches with several cords, a “raised line” will form.

1. Define your lead rope.

2. Grab the next rope behind the lead rope and loop it over your lead rope.

3. Thread it behind and through the loop you’ve just created and pull snug.

4. Repeat the process to create two “loops” that now make up your double half hitch knot.

5. Tighten gently and pull snug.

Also known as the wrap knot. Used to a secure a bundle of
cords together.

1. Using a separate cord, form a loop placing the left strand over the right.

2. Wrap the cord up the bundle of rope.

3. Continue wrapping until just a small part of the loop is left exposed and thread the cord
through the loop.

4. Pull the other end of the cord to tighten the loop until its pulled into the wrapped part
of the bundle.

5. Trim the ends of the rope so they’re not visible.
