My Soil Conservation Advocacy Campaign

I. Problem Identification
Human Activities that affect the Quality and Quantity of Soil

II. Gathering Information

Various causes of soil degradation including deforestation, misuse or excess use of
fertilizers, Industrial and Mining activities, Improper cultivation practices, erosion,
Urbanization and also physical, biological, and chemical factors. These activities could
bring harmful effects to the soil and It has led to increased pollution and sedimentation in
streams and rivers, clogging these waterways and causing declines in fish and other
species. And degraded lands are also often less able to hold onto water, which can worsen
flooding. The possible thing to do to provide solution is to avoid doing activities
mentioned that could harm and affect the soil.

III. Planning
Goal
The goal is to control soil erosion by preventing or limiting soil particle detachment
and transport in water or air.
Objective
- To reduce all forms of soil erosion.
- To increase agricultural productivity in sustained manner without deteriorating the soil
health.
- To minimize flood hazards
- To conserve soil
Outputs
They can revive damaged soil, minimize erosion, encourage plant growth, eliminate
the use of nitrogen fertilizer or fungicide, produce above-average yields and protect crops
during droughts or flooding. The result is less labor and lower costs that increase farmers'
profits.
Method
Following methods are normally adopted for conserving soil:
- Afforestation
- Checking Overgrazing
- Constructing Dams
- Changing Agricultural Practices

IV. Actions
The following are to be practiced in order to realize the objectives of the
campaign, but it is not limited only to the activities provided.

- Forest Protection
- Plants trees to secure topsoil
- Crop rotation
- Maintain pH
- Water the soil
- No compacting

V. Evaluation
All in all the advocacy campaign has worked well regarding of the conservation of
the soil but some of the activities that needed to be done was not successfully managed
because of lack of availability of resources. It is expected that if they continually able to
do the good practices that could enhance the fertility of the soil then nothing would gone
differently in the future but to remain the conservation of the soil.
