BTMT1023 – FUNDAMENTALS OF MANAGERIAL ECONOMICS

Group Assignment

This assignment contribute 20% to the total subject assessment.

Create a short video based on the topic below:

“Perfect Competition is a market structure where all firms sell an identical product, a price
takers and market share has no influence on prices”. Explain this statement by highlighting
important features of this kind of a perfect market. Support your answer by a live
example.”

Video Submission Requirements:


 Video should be between 5 – 7 minutes (includes introduction and conclusion).
 Each group should have clear individual role for each members in completing the video. i.e.
Director, Storyline, Videographer, Editor, etc.
 Narrators of the video must be a member from the group and subtitles are COMPULSORY to be
included throughout the video.
 The video can take any format depending on the group’s creativity. i.e. documentaries,
instructional, story-telling or stop motion.
 Marks will be based on the students’ ability to correctly apply market structure related into the
video and the ability to accurately and articulately explain this market structure.
 Group leaders are responsible to the submission of video.
 Video must be emailed to atirah@utem.edu.my
 Content of video must include:
o Introduction:
 Group name and list of members
 Title of video
 Disclaimer – “This video is prepared only for educational purpose”
o Main Content:
 At least 5 minutes of content story
 Describe monopolistic competition as a market structure.
 Identify how price and quantity are determined in monopolistic competition
 One of the characteristics of monopolistic competition is product differentiation.
Elaborate product differentiation and give example of the product.
 (Look at chapter 8 for further information about this content)
o Ending:
 Summary of topic
 Credits
 Role of each members
 List of resources used

3. Those who fail to do so will be individually penalized with ZERO (0) marks.

4. It is the duty of each of the group member to ensure all members to do the assignment,
delegate task and report to the lecturer for any misbehave.

5. The SUBMISSION DUE DATE FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT IS ON WEEK 13 , 15th January
