FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
SY: 2017 - 2022
Rationale:
Education is a life-long process where an individual is given the right to have it. Thus, learning and teaching is a reciprocal towards success in
any endeavors to be undertaken. Merriam Webster defines” faculty” as the members of a profession. Also, the teaching and administrative staff and those
members of the administration having academic rank in an educational institution. Teaching process needs to be innovative, progressive to cater the needs
of a student that to be holistically developed anchored with the 21 st century skills. Therefore, making the teacher to be globally standard in meeting the
needs and expectation in learning-teaching process.
Aligned with its Philosophy, vision, mission, goals and SPA Core Values as a learner-centered private institution, the SPA Faculty Development
Program provides appropriate and relevant educational experiences in the aspects of Intellectual Development, Physical Development, Spiritual
Development, and Social Development to SPA faculty members who are at the forefront of teaching-learning, research and community engagement in their
specific disciplines. Challenged by globalization, increasing demands of industry, and the influx of the K-to-12 Curriculum, SPA is committed to develop,
nourish and support a pool of faculty who are academic frontrunners — abreast with cutting-edge development and innovation in their fields of specialization
and pursue holistic growth as persons and as learners. While the Faculty Development Program has the faculty member’s integral growth as its immediate
end, ultimately it is the students who will benefit from the presence of holistically trained faculty members whose pursuit for excellence is to build a culture
for learning based on collaboration, teamwork, and shared vision.
This program is only one of SPA continuing efforts that seek to ensure the vitality, relevance and effectiveness of its educational mission. The Faculty
Development Program is anchored on an over-arching principle of the Department of Education to develop and sustain quality faculty committed to life-long
personal and professional improvement and service.

At the end of the faculty development plan, teachers are able to:
a. keep updated the latest development in one’s specified areas of knowledge in the field of education;
