TY Diary Week 3

Dear Diary:
The first day of the week started with a no school day because the teachers were
having a meeting but I had a very relaxing day. Mostly reading and doing some
homework.
The next day we went on a trip to airfield! It was so much fun. We got to see all
the different types of plants and vegetables in the farm. The hostess was so nice to
tell us about each and every plant or vegetable that we saw. After looking at all the
plants we moved on to see the animals in the farm. There were sheep, goats, cows
and chickens, they were so cute. I think I preferred causey farm to airfield, but
overall, both of them were fantastic.
We came back just in time for the last two classes which were Japanese and
Computer Studies. It was our first Japanese class of the year and we started with
what we are going to do for this module and for the upcoming modules. Sounds
exciting.
Last class was in Computer Studies we continued working on our TY Portfolios.
Mines looking great.
Wednesday morning, we started with Media studies and we were beginning to do
our second project which was to create a magazine cover on anyth9ng you like. I
am using the app Canva to make a cover on a trip to the luxurious country Spain.
You must include stuff like a barcode, website URL, a main image and more. We
will continue that in our next class.
Next, we had Politics and society where we continued learning about politicians
and what a society is. We found out the meaning of the two words and started
talking about both of them. It was kind of interesting. Sorry Mr. Brennan
After lunch we had Siamsa where we continued filling out our Irish worksheet. I
am almost done mine.
Last class was R.S.E where we started talking about healthy and toxic friendships
with friends. We talked about qualities that each person brings to a friendship
group.
Thursday morning, we had French, where because the teacher wasn’t in, we did
some of the work she gave us to do. Friday’s French class she also wasn’t in so she
gave us a mini project to start on.
After French we had Mathematics where we continued with art in math’s and this
time, we looked at a completely different artist. We also tried doing our own piece
using postcards but we didn’t finish them so we will complete them in the next
class.
Yoga was after break in the convent and we continued with our mindfulness. This
time at the start of the class we wrote a letter to our future self. It was hard to come
up with something to write to your future self, but it was still interesting.
Physics class came after and we continued learning about light and retraction.
Retraction is where when you see an object at the bottom of the pool and you try to
get it but it actually is further away than you thought it was. It was interesting.
After lunch we had Siamsa where we continued learning Irish dancing history and
when it started. We talked about how the costumes are made of and what cool
design they had on them.
Lastly, we had our Jesuit refuge program where we started talking about refugees
and where flee from their countries. Then we answered questions on how many
refuges come to Ireland in a year and omg there were millions, its so sad.
Friday morning, we had Computer studies where we began our ICDL course. We
began learning on how to use PowerPoint presentations and then when we are done
the training, we will complete the diagnostic test and then go on to the real test. I
think I will do well. Let’s hope.
Afterwards we went to German and we began with learning the greetings and how
to describe your hair, eyes, height, name, age etc. Ich heibe frau Diana (my name is
Diana). Our teacher is also very nice.
After break we had English where we continued watching and talking about the
movie “the inspector calls”. It’s getting better as we go along.
P.e came after break and me and my group started on completing and recording our
tests of health and fitness, we have to do. I liked the balance one and coordination
where you have to throw a ball to the wall and catch it with the opposite hand and
throw it back.
Choir came after lunch and we began writing down the lyrics for our song that we
are going to sing next week. The song is “Yesterday by the beetles and it’s a good
song, I like it.
Lastly was French where we continued our Canada projects, I am doing mine on
fashion in Quebec and its very interesting so far.
Write to you next week, it was an enjoyable week. I learned a lot of new things ,
which is amazing
