To answer this section, you need to follow each of the steps below.
First of all, you need to explain the difference between logical and physical design.
You then discuss and explain the user requirements for general network design.
From here, you provide a logical design of the network based on the specific requirements of the
user.
Also, you provide a physical design of this network based on the specific requirements of the
user.
Finally, you provide the address table of the network devices used in your design above.
(Word limit: 500 – 750 words)….
Logical design of a network consists of virtual design while the physical design of a
network describes the hardware functions of the network. Logical designs
determine the flow of data or communication between two networks while physical
design is a communication between two computers connected with cables.
3
Physical layout of a network is based on a logical layout. For example, an
organization that installs a wide area network would be drawn as a single line
diagram; this is a basic design of a physical layout
For example, a physical design of a network can be upgraded to link two or three
office buildings. The expansion would require an upgrade using logical design
layout of a network. This would make it easy for information to be processed from
any system in buildings at the same time.
- User requirement Local Area Network (LAN), designs that would involve the entire network
include one in which all branch office LANs are upgraded to support Fast Ethernet, and a migration
from traditional printing solutions
– Requirements are descriptions of the network functions and performance needed in order for the
network to successfully support its users, applications, and devices (and thus the success of the
network project) – Requirements that are determined to be necessary for the success of the network
project are termed core or fundamental requirements.

To answer this section, you need to follow each of the steps below.
First of all, you provide a test plan for the design above. Note, because the design has not been
implemented yet, so here you only give a test plan, without any specific results.
Next, you evaluate your network design by: 1) showing the pros and cons of design based on
user requirements; 2) For this design network to work effectively, can you have any advice or
solutions?
a) Test plan
- This is my design:
- To prepare a plan to test the network. The plan defines the scope, approach, criteria, schedule,
responsibilities, resources, and procedures.
Define Objectives
Define Acceptance Criteria
Define Schedule

Design the network to become straight-through between devices which mean every element in
the network can connected with each other. We can test if the network is clear or not by using
the command: Ping + IP which IP is the address of the destination devices. In order to Ping
different group of IP, we will use the command RIP at main-router also at sub-router. The goal
of this step is: all the elements of the network can be Ping at anywhere in the network.
Next step, the network will provide some services: Internet, Mail, and FTP…. To provide these
services we will create servers to manage it.
Use mail server to send message by email service. In this assignment we will create two Mail
servers to show that the network can manage to send mail between different mail domains.
DNS server will be applied to provide the ability of translate IP address to domain.
FTP service will be applied to provide the ability to editing text also up it on servers for
computers in the network.
Set up telnet or SSH services only available for the company admin to provide the permission
to access to the configuration console of the router and servers
In order to restrict all the devices access to the telnet function or SSH. We will create the
“Extended Access List” which will contain the session of every element in the network except
the Admin session.
The next function this network will be provided is maintenance session by using: Syslog and
Netflow. The Syslog will be shown on the main servers and the Netflow will be shown on one
of the admin computers.
That will help admin to control and observe the condition of the network.
1. It is a combination of bus and star topology. Used in Wide Area Network, Better Scalability,
Better Flexibility. Ideal if nodes are located in groups
2. It provides high scalability, as leaf nodes can add more nodes in the hierarchical chain.
3. Other nodes in a network are not affected, if one of their nodes get damaged
4. It provides easy maintenance and fault identification.
5. Supported by several hardware and software vendors.
6. Point-to-point wiring for individual segments.

3. .
c) For this design network to work effectively, I have so advice and solutions:
- Regularly backup data and have back up plane in case network fail.
- Can change hardware server to be virtualization network to cut cost and have better performance.
- Label all the linear cable in colour or name to easier repair and configure.
- Can apply in some node of network to Wifi Mesh or wireless technology to cut cost of wires.
Task 2.1 - Install and configure network services and applications on your choice
(M3)
To answer this section, you need to follow each of the steps below.
First of all, you choose a few services and applications that you like best, such as DNS service
or FTP application.
You then install and configure these services step by step for them to work. Note, it is advisable to
provide screenshots for each of these steps for illustration.

STAFF 01:
Task 2.1.1 - Design a maintenance schedule to support the networked system (D2)
Once the network is operational, situations may occur that may prevent it from working as
expected. Therefore, in order to deal with this, you need to have regular maintenance on your
network. To be able to do this, you need to design periodic network maintenance, e.g., backup
schedule, so that the network can continuously provide services to users.

2. Malware protection
3. Network documentation updates
4. Device inventory
5. Power checks
6. Task How to Recommended
interval
* It is recommended to use an automatic backup facility. Refer to the indicated section for
information about which files and directories to backup.
To answer this section, you need to follow each of the steps below.
First of all, you need to show proof of the network implementation you designed above, for
example you can provide screenshots of this realization.
Next, you need to show a diagram of your overall network realization, which contains all of
the network devices active based on the original user requirements.
(Word limit: 500 – 750 words)…….
a) Proof

b) Diagram

Task 4 - Document and analyse test results against expected results (P8)
Based on the network realization diagram above, now you need to write down the above
implementation process into the logbook, so that later on when you need to expand the network
or have a network problem, you can easily handle it.
Next, you need to test this network system, based on the test plan done above. Note, you must
show the network test results, see if it meets the original requirements or not.
(Word limit: 500 – 750 words)
b) test this network system, based on the test plan done above
To answer this section, you can follow each of the steps below.
First of all, you will need to nominate how to upgrade your network system after a long period
of use.
This network upgrade can be done in many ways, depending on actual requirements. For example,
you can expand the number of computers using the network by installing additional wireless access
point devices. Or you can install and configure additional firewall equipment to enhance
network security features.
(Word limit: 250 – 500 words)
a) nominate how to upgrade your network system after a long period of use.
- Apply machine learning to upgrade your network into an intent-based system.
- Upgrade with Network Attached Storage (NAS) to accessed network from
other devices such as desktops, laptops, and servers and run virtual
machines.
- Upgrading the security network by newest and best Firewall application
to up to date. For better security.
- Apply Cloud computing to delivery workload over the internet reduces the
workload of your network administrators and frees them up to complete
other tasks
Task 4.1.1 - Use critical reflection to evaluate own work and justify valid conclusions
(D3)
After performing all the steps above, now is the time to evaluate your entire work as an overview as
much critically as possible. In addition, you need to justify and come to reasonable conclusions for
it.
