28. (a) Is uniform circular motion a uniformly accelerated motion? Justify .
(b) The position vectors 𝑟⃗1 and 𝑟⃗2 of a body moving in a plane at time t1 and
t2 respectively are given as :
𝑟⃗1 = (2𝑖̂ + 𝑗̂)𝑚 and 𝑟⃗2 = (−3𝑖̂ + 4𝑗̂ + 2𝑘̂ ) m

29. On a two lane road, car A is travelling with a speed of 36 km h−1. two cars B and C
approach car A in opposite directions with a speed of 54 km h−1 each. At a certain
instant, when the distance AB is equal to AC, both being 1 km, B decides to
overtake A before C does. What minimum acceleration of car B is required to
avoid an accident? (3)
30. The heat produced in a wire carrying electric current depends upon the
current, the resistance and time. Find the relation between these quantities
using dimensional analysis. The dimensional formula of resistance is

31. A helicopter of mass 1000 kg rises with a vertical acceleration of 15 m/s 2 .

32. (a) Define angle of friction . With the help of a suitable diagram , derive an
expression for it in terms of coefficient of friction ( μ ).
(b) Two masses , 8 kg & 12 kg are connected at the two ends of a light ,
inextensible string that goes over a frictionless pulley . Calculate the
acceleration of the masses & tension in the string when the masses are
released .
OR
(a) Using a suitable diagram, derive an expression for the maximum speed
with which a car can take a turn on a banked road , without skidding
off .
(b) An aeroplane , travelling at a speed of 360 km/h tilts at an angle 30° as
it makes a safe turn. What is the radius of the turn ? (5)
33. (a)Two vectors 𝐴⃗ and 𝐵
⃗⃗ are inclined to each other at an angle θ. Using
parallelogram law of vector addition, derive the expression for the
magnitude and direction of their resultant.
(b) At what angle do the two forces (𝑃 + 𝑄 ) and (P -Q) act so that the
resultant is √3𝑃2 + 𝑄2 (5)
34. (a) Show that there is loss of kinetic energy when a body of mass m ,
moving in one dimension , has a perfectly inelastic collision with an
identical body , initially at rest.
(b) A railway carriage of 9000 kg mass , moving with a speed of 36 km/h
collides with a stationary carriage of same mass . After collision , both
the carriages move together. Calculate their common speed after
collision .
OR
(a) What is a spring force ? Graphically show the variation of spring force
with extension as well as compression of the spring . What does the
area under the graph signify ?
(b) Two springs have force constants k1 & k2 ( k1 > k2 ). For which spring,
more work is done if both are stretched to the same extent ? Justify.
