maximise the student’s learning experience. The rich structure of the programme aims to create a fine
balance between theoretical and practical education. The programme focuses on the basics of the field
of design while stressing on the possibilities to practice specific skills and knowledge related to specific
courses.
It provides an ecosystem of interactive engagement in your programme of study, to enhance your
design thinking, problem-solving, and system thinking ability with a human-centric approach - imbued
with a deep sense of social & environmental responsibility.

Bachelor of Design (B. Design) - Global Design Programme
(Batch 2021-25)
The 4 years B. Design - Global Design Programme (GDP) at UID has been curated through research
and by collaborating with some of the best international design schools, using innovative approaches
for redefining Design education in India. It provides a unique opportunity for a student to understand
global perspectives and tackle design challenges with an international style and pedagogy of learning.
This programme will take students through intersections of design disciplines with different
approaches to design; from Visual Communication, Fashion Design, Product Design, Interior Design
with the flexibility to choose the major & minor specializations.
It is designed for students who want to learn design in top world-class educational institutions in state-
of-the-art global campuses with world-renowned faculty, based in vibrant Design Capitals of the world
in four diverse & culturally rich countries. This programme is nested in India with semesters abroad in
Australia (Year: 2022), Italy (Year: 2023) and UK (Year: 2024).
The course features an integrated 14-weeks study abroad of Global Experiential Learning for
in transcontinental classroom settings, engaging with world-renowned faculty in a multi-country
learning model. Our vision is to provide students with an unparalleled experience, nurturing them to
be design leaders and creative catalysts who shall be the forbearers and deliver positive social,
environmental, economic and cultural change.
This programme is nested in UID but functions without geographical boundaries, with integrated
Study Abroad semesters in four leading international centres of design and innovation in India,
Europe, UK, and Australia. Collectively offering students a unique educational mix characterized by
multidisciplinary intakes, shared values, complementary approaches, and distinct expertise.

design education in an international environment that is unparalleled in this part of the world, bringing
together major centres of design, culture, and industry.
Why study B. Design - GDP at UID?
The Global Design Programme (GDP) is created to nurture and train creative catalysts and future
leaders of design and innovation. It is for students who have the passion, intelligence, and creativity to
drive the redefinition of the trajectory of global design. Students who want to experience and learn
design in different continents, with an immersive educational experience in world-class educational
institutions based in four culturally diverse countries; viz. India, Australia, Italy, and the United
Kingdom.
This course prepares students to explore the future-scape of design by negotiating across four design
disciplines in an interdisciplinary ecosystem. The Programme allows further overlaps in these design
disciplines embracing larger integrative topics such as Interaction Design, Service Design and
Experience Design. It allows them to be curious and evolve the ability to question and respond to design
challenges both individually and through collaborative global perspectives and projects. It aims to
impart competencies that aid opportunity mapping, strategies to transform design, innovative practices
to develop entrepreneurial ventures, new businesses, and start-ups for the creative industry.
How does it work?
The UID based curriculum is a sequential mix of different design experiences where there is an
emphasis on design thinking, problem-solving, product development, making and prototyping.
The course will take students through various facets of design disciplines; including different
approaches to design from Communication Design (Visual Communication), Fashion Design, Product
Design, Interior Design with the flexibility to choose from aligned domains and design disciplines in
the host institutions.

Course Duration
It is a 4-years full-time degree course, comprising of “experiential learning abroad” for 14 weeks
starting from 2nd year onwards.

Integrated Masters of Design (5 Years) Programme
(Batch 2021-26)
UID’s Integrated Masters (IM) is a 5 years’ full-time degree programme, which has been curated as a
sequential mix of different design experiences that provides an accelerated pathway to a Master’s
degree. This rigorous programme puts students on a fast track to achieve a Master’s degree within a
five-year single course instead of the traditional 6 years, effectively saving one year.
Ideally suited for applicants looking for intense, futuristic design education. This programme focuses
on creating transformative designers aiming to redefine the boundaries of design.
The Integrated Masters of Design is an ultimate springboard & qualification for competing in rapidly
evolving disciplines of design which are becoming increasingly complex and inter-connected in
practical spheres. There is an emphasis on conceptual understanding and solving complex design
challenges through advanced research, problem-solving, management and execution skills.
This interdisciplinary course will take students through intersections of design disciplines including
and not limited to Visual Communication (Graphics), Fashion Design, Product Design, Interior
Design with the flexibility to choose the Masters track from integrated domains.
