Instructions
1. This question paper contains two parts A and B.
2. Both Part A and Part B have internal choices.
PART – A
1. It consists of two sections – Section I and Section II.
2. Section I has 16 questions of 1 mark each. Internal choice is provided in 5 questions.
3. Section II has 4 questions on case study. Each case study has 5 case -based sub-parts. An
examinee is to attempt any 4 out of 5 sub-parts.
PART – B
1. Question No. 21 to 26 are Very Short Answer Type questions of 2 marks each.
2. Question No. 27 to 33 are Short Answer Type questions of 3 marks each.
3. Question No. 34 to 36 are Long Answer Type questions of 5 marks each.
4. Internal choice is provided in 2 questions of 2 marks, 2 questions of 3 marks and 1
question of 5 marks.

SECTION – I

Directions (Q. No. 1-16) Section I has 16 questions of 1 mark each. Internal choice is provided in
5 questions.

1. What is the smallest number which when divided by 35, 56 and 91 leaves remainder 3 in
each case?

Prove that 29 × 23 × 19 × 13 + 29 is a composite number.
2. What is the value of 𝑘 for which the zeroes of quadratic polynomial 𝑘𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 5 are
reciprocal of each other?
3. Determine the value of 𝑎 for which the following system of linear equations has infinite
solutions:2𝑥 − (𝑎 − 4)𝑦 = 3 ; 4𝑥 − (𝑎 − 1) 𝑦 = 6.
4. If the mean of the first 𝑛 natural numbers is 15, then find 𝑛.
5. If α and β are the roots of equation 𝑥 2 + 𝑘𝑥 + 12 = 0 and 𝛼 − 𝛽 = 1, find 𝑘.

Prove that 𝑝 (𝑥) = 𝑥 2 + 2𝑥 + 5 has no real roots.
6. If AB is a tangent drawn from point A to a circle with centre O and BOC is a diameter of
the circle such that ∠𝐴𝑂𝐶 = 120 o, then find ∠𝑂𝐴𝐵.

17. In a sports day celebration, the school decided to make activity between students in such a
way that Vicky, Garvit and Shalini are standing at positions A, B and C whose coordinates
are (3, 3), (5, 9) and (9, 3) respectively. The teacher asked Deepanshi to fix the country
flag at the mid-point of the line joining point A and B.

26. Prove that the line segment joining the mid points of contact of two parallel tangents to a
circle is a diameter of the circle.

Prove that parallelogram circumscribing a circle is a rhombus.

28. If the zeroes of the polynomial 𝑥 2 + 𝑝𝑥 + 𝑞 are double in value to the zeroes of 2𝑥 2 −
5𝑥 − 3, find the value of 𝑝 and 𝑞.

33. Find the area of the shaded region in the given figure if
semicircles are drawn with AB, BP and AP as diameters,

A round table cover has six equal designs as shown in the
figure. If the radius of cover is 28 cm, find the area of the
shaded region. (Use √3 = 1.7)

Directions (Q. No. 34-36) These are Long Answer Type questions of 5 marks each.
34. Draw the graph of the following pair of linear equations in two variables: 2𝑥 + 𝑦 = 5 and
3𝑥 − 2𝑦 = 4. Write the intersection point of two lines and mention whether the pair of
linear equations are consistent or inconsistent. Also, shade the common area along with y-
axis and find its area.
35. State and prove Pythagoras theorem.

In an equilateral triangle ABC, D is a point on side BC such that 4BD = BC. Prove that
16AD2 = 13BC2.
36. The following is the frequency distribution of marks obtained by 10 th class students of a
school in secondary school examination in Mathematics:
