Professional Experience

Program Officer
Medical Teams International (MTI), Nepal (Headquarter USA, Oregon, Portland) - INGO
Kathmandu based – June 2015 to October 2017 (Almost 3 years)

Key duties and responsibilities:


 Program Support - Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) and Emergency Medical Services
(EMS) projects.

 As directed by the Country Director and Program Manager, represent MTI and Liaise with local and
national authorities, UN, NGO, and donor agencies to promote MTI's programs, facilitate successful
coordination of activities and ensure transparency and accountability to all stakeholders.
 Closely working with MOH, DHO and partner NGOs Shanti Nepal and UMN in Dhading district.
 Conduction of the 3 Days RFR and 10 Days RMR trainings in Emergency Medical Services project and
capacity building trainings in Maternal, Newborn and Child Health project.
 Ensure project data is accurately collected, recorded, entered into project database, analyzed and
reported on.
 Periodically visit patients and beneficiaries having benefited from EMS and MNCH care, collect
information, analyze, and generate case studies.
 Assisting in project research, survey, project cycle management, strategy development and
coordination
 Assisting in researching and developing plans for new projects
 Assist in Baseline, Midline and End line surveys
 Assist with the documentation & reporting of project information, case studies, success stories,
lesson learned
 As directed by the PM, represent MTI and liaise with local and national authorities, UN, NGO, and
donor agencies to promote MTI’s programs, facilitate successful coordination of activities and
ensure transparency and accountability to all stakeholders.
 Provide information to the PM on Identified opportunities for MTI to have a leadership role within
the humanitarian community, particularly regarding public health related activities.
 Assist where necessary with program operations and reporting, ensuring compliance with MTI
policies and procedures, donor regulations and local laws.
 Provide support and assistance to programs with particular reference to financial management and
reporting systems.
 Provide support with monitoring and report on all program activities and progress to MTI HQ and
donors.
 Undertake other duties as directed by the Country Director and Program Manager.
 Assisting with implementation of program strategies.
 Assisting in preparation of action plans, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects
 Visiting project sites to collect project data and stories
 Organizing meetings with partners
 Primary review of partner reports and providing input based on PPS, Project Agreements and MoUs
 Preparing program logistics for visitors, researchers, facilitators and donors
 Submitting tracking report to PM with activity input, output and outcome based on logical
framework
 Follow up with Social Welfare Council and Government ministries in the course duties

 Safety and Security Focal Person for Nepal office


 Updating and sharing safety and security information about Nepal office to MTI headquarters every
week.
 Assisting Country Director to draft Country Safety and Security Manual
 Assisting Country Director to prepare SOP for Building Evacuation Plan, Fire and Safety plan.
 Taking lead on giving practice on Building Evacuation and Fire Evacuation to all the staff from head
office and head office.
 Giving Safety and Security orientation to donors, international/national volunteers and national
staff (head & field).
 Reporting weekly Safety and Security update of Nepal to the MTI Headquarter in USA.
 Ensuring Safety and Security of all the staff (head & field office)\
 Attending the meeting of Association of International NOGs (AIN) regarding Safety and Security
matter.

 Logistics Support (MNCH and EMS Project)


 Support supply chain systems including timely local procurement (often within a limited local
market), road transportation (at times in insecure and challenging environments), warehousing and
distribution plans.
 Ensure asset records and tracking systems are in place at all operational sites.
 Ensure compliance and adherence to logistic policies, donor regulations, and local laws.
 Ensure timely reporting in accordance with reporting requirements.
 Providing planning support and advice to those making a procurement request, then process and
manage the procurement process (either locally or internationally) in accordance with MTI policies
and procedures in a transparent, accountable, efficient and cost effective.
 Track medical supplies, equipment, and material in transit through initial receipt, storage,
distribution, and receipt at intended final location. Ensure all program staff are kept informed of
relevant pipeline information.
 Monitor the quantity and quality of commodities stored. Carry regular commodity physical checks
and inventory of the MTI warehouse.
 Assist in the management of housing and accommodation ensuring staff have the necessary supplies
and support to function in country as required, i.e. lease arrangements, power, water, food and
supplies.
 Manage national finance, HR, admin and logs staff ensuring work plans are generated and
performance systems.
 Be flexible and manage own time; be prepared to tackle other tasks commensurate with role, and
level of experience, on short notice.
Undertake other duties as directed by the CD and PM.

 Reporting and Communication/ Translator


 Preparation of monthly operational report following PPS, MOU and PA
 Write field reports, case study, beneficiaries story, proposal and event completion report
 Assisting with disseminating information to appropriate agencies
 Translating documents (English and Nepali)
 Translating the words from local people to Donors, international volunteers and country director
when there is a filed visit at project villages.
 Assisting with drafting documents (English and Nepali)
 Assisting with preparation of Power Point presentations

 Public Relations & Networking
 Preparing drafts of flyers, brochures and program related publications for beneficiaries,
government, donors, etc.
 Representing MTI at assigned meetings and producing meeting reports
 Disseminating information to clients, staff and other stakeholders

 Data Management and Information Technology "IT Guy"


 Coordinating with Administration to properly manage project files and data in Dropbox and Google
Drive
 Frequent communicating with US HQ IT personnel by Skype to repair and maintenance the
computer and other technological material of the Nepal office.
 Basic computer hardware and software, office internet, outlook account, google account repair and
maintenance
 Assisting with analyzing data
 Staying ahead of projects and preparing information and reminder notices for staff and partners
 Managing photos, recordings
