The devil proposed me a
deal that sounded too good to be
true. He offered me an
investment deal where he will
only take ten percent of the
$1000 that I would invest. He
would double my money every
day after he took his cut. There
is a catch though, his cut also
doubles, and I must stick with
the deal for at least thirty days.
He was not lying to me when he
said that by the fourth day I
would have close to $13000,
12800 to be exact.

What I put in the cells

B4; D3 times 2. My input
money Doubled
B5; D4 times 2. My Account
Doubled
B6; D5 times 2. My Account
Doubled
C4; D3 times 0.1. Get the
Devil’s first cut
C5; C4 times 2. Double the
Devil’s cut
D4; B4 minus C4. Take out the
Devil’s cut
D5; B5 minus C5. Take out the
Devil’s cut

Questions
1. My balance at the end is negative
$536,870,912,000.00. I do think the
calculations are correct because the
devil’s cut is going up faster than
my cut. I would not make the deal
with the devil because I would lose
a lot of money. My money increases
faster than the Devil’s cut at the
beginning, but his increases faster
later on.
2. Earlier on my money would have
been increasing faster than the
Devil’s cut of my money. I would
rearrange the deal by reversing it.
He would give me a loan of $1000
and I would take ten percent of that,
then double his money and double
my cut.
3. His money curve is explained as an
exponential graph because the
amount the money increases by,
increases.
