COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a beginning to intermediate computer applications class which allows a student to become
efficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Students who complete this course will
have the opportunity to take Computer Applications 2 and 3. These students can take the
Microsoft Certified Exams in Word, Excel and Access, and to obtain a certified Microsoft Office
Specialist (MOS).

SAM (Skills Assessment Manager), by course Technology. A student key, user name, and
password will be distributed during the first week of class.
TESTING

PREREQUISITES
Keyboarding—Type 30 words per minute.
COURSE GOALS
At the completion of this course, students will be able to use introductory through intermediate
MS Office skills to solve business and personal problems through the use of word processing,
spreadsheets, and presentation software.

1. Twenty four project assignments, including 3 to 7 projects for each unit.
2. Exams through SAM (Skills Assessment Management) will be scheduled at the end of
each lesson.
