Engine type This Operating Instruction concerns Wärtsilä Vasa 32 and 32LN
engines.
General Support screws for the charge air cooler have been standard on most
Vasa 32 V-engines for a few years now. It is, however, important to
follow the correct procedures when mounting the cooler insert.

Instructions This procedure has to be followed when mounting the cooler insert:
1. Mount the cooler in the cooler housing and tighten the M12 screws
(8) to 85 Nm.
2. Lubricate the support screws (9 and 10) with a water resistant
grease.
3. Tighten the upper support screws (9) by hand until they touch the
cooler insert. Secure with the counter nuts.
4. Torque the lower support screws (10) to 40 Nm and secure with the
counter nuts.

Maintenance Check the tightness of the lower support screws (10) every 1000
running hours. The screws might stick due to corrosion, so we
recommend checking that they are unstuck by opening them slightly
before tightening to 40 Nm.
Note Remember to loosen the support screws before removing the cooler
insert at maintenance.
