INT. HOUSE – DAY
Black screen – we hear an alarm clock. Open on shot of
egg being cracked, whisked and put in the microwave. All
with quick cuts. Shots of JOE brushing teeth and getting
ready, doing pushups. Post comes through the door. Joe
picks it up. Over the shoulder shot of him flicking
through it. Just bills until he comes to a hand scrawled
note that says ‘3 days’. Shot of him looking confused. He
goes to the front door and opens it, looking around, brow
furrowed. He steps back inside and as he closes it, we
cut to black. On the black screen appears a clock ticking
down/Day 2 or something.
INT. HOUSE - DAY
We see a similar montage the next day. We see him in bed
waking up, going around the house making his breakfast
and brushing his teeth. He then comes to the door and
there is more post on the door mat. He picks it up and
flicks through. There is another note – ‘2 days’. He
furrows his brow. He then takes the note to the kitchen
and throws it in the bin. We see the door opening and he
leaves, getting in his car and driving off.
INT. CAR – DAY
There is a shot of him inside the car driving and
something catches his eye. There is a shot outside the
car as he drives past an old lady holding up two fingers.
The camera holds on her as it drives past. Cut back to
inside the car with Joe looking slightly worried.
INT. HOUSE - DAY
The next day we see another montage. Joe looks more on
edge now, glancing out of the window while making his
breakfast and behind him while brushing his teeth. He is
doing pushups. When he’s done he checks his phone. The
screen starts glitching and “1 day” appears on the
screen. He rushes down the stairs. Post lands on the
doormat. He ignores it and goes straight to the door. He
opens it and looks outside. There is no one there. He
closes the door and tentatively picks up the post. He
goes through it more slowly this time, dreading what he
might see. The music begins to ramp up at this point. He
finally reaches a note that says, ‘1 day’. The music
reaches a climax and a beat hits as he uncovers the note.
1
He drops the rest of the post and runs to the back door,
grabbing a box of matches on the way (Shot from above on
stairs – following him). He bursts out of the back door,
lights a match, and burns the note, throwing it to the
ground. Shot from the ground with the fire in the
foreground and Joe in the background, looking scared. The
music rises even further as he stares at the flames,
making us expect something to happen. It is then cut off
by a loud alarm clock sound and a shot of Joe in bed.
INT. BEDROOM – DAY
Joe lays sprawled, as if dead on his bed. The alarm clock
sounds loudly as this shot starts, cutting off the one
before with the flames. Joe jolts awake and turns it off.
He turns over on his back and looks around. There is
nothing out of the ordinary. He slowly gets out of bed
and opens his door, looking around nervously.
INT. KITCHEN - DAY
We then see him in the kitchen about to crack an egg when
there is a ring at the door. His head shoots up,
immediately alert and on edge. He carefully puts the egg
down and edges towards the front door.
JOE
(Nervous/apprehensive)
Hello?
There is no response. The music rises as he reaches his
hand towards the front door handle. As he opens it, we
cut away to a shot facing the floor. On the floor we can
see a shadow of Joe and something else. We hear a muffled
scuffle and see the shadows struggling as a note falls to
the ground below the camera. It says ‘0’. We hold on
this, slowly zooming on it. A drop of blood falls on it.
Cut to black.
