You can create both an audio or video podcast, and it is a great way to create a new
audience, and engage with your repeat audience as well.
You can send them to your e-mail list, post it on social media. Platforms such as iTunes
and Soundcloud allow you to reach out to more people.
Since I don’t have much experience in making podcasts, I invited my friend Christine
Hassler to help in this section. She coaches people on how to craft and expand their
message using this platform.

What is a podcast?
Podcasting is like talk radio
On the iPhone, there is an app included called “Podcasts”, where you can search
millions of free podcasts. Categories range from creative content to tutorials. You can
find anything you are looking for!
This is like the “Audio YouTube”.
Anyone can have a podcast and put it on iTunes (You can offer it for free, or charge, it is
your choice). This is a great way to put your content out there, connect with your
audience, build followers and teach in a different way.
It is also a great marketing device, because after you build up your tribe of listeners, you
can offer your different products or services to a tribe that is already open to what you
have to offer.
Podcasts are easier than doing videos (because it requires less preparation).

Think about what you want to communicate to the world. What your passion is. And with
this in mind, make a commitment to what content and how often you will offer new
material.
Commitment is key for success. Content has to have consistency.
How to start a podcast
1. Plan: Theme of your podcast, define your audience, how often will you post new
content (make a commitment)
2. Study the market: Listen to a lot of podcasts. What are other people doing? What is
already working for them? What is missing?
3. Technology requirements: Find out what kind of equipment you will need.
4. Marketing: How to publish on iTunes, how to announce it to your audience.
5. Launch big: Launch as many episodes as you can in the beginning. Then you can
post less frequently.
6. Call to action: ask people to subscribe to your podcast, ask them to download your
podcast, ask them to go to your website, etc.
*People don’t get automatically subscribed to your podcast if they download it (some
think they will)
7. Produce new material regularly: some people front load their material, but I
recommend you produce new material all the time. Things are always changing, and
you want your podcasts to have fresh new material.
8. Pitch out to other people doing podcasts: showcasing yourself in other people’s
podcasts is a great way to reach a different audience, and reinforce your authority.
