SCHOOL
READINESS
PROGRAM
This School readiness program was planned and put together by tutors
and Occupational Therapy students in pursuit of increasing children's'
confidence in transitioning to kindergarten by working on the skills they
need to perform well, in and out of the classroom
Fine motor skills
Many of the activities we participate in at school involve
fine motor movements. Scissoring, pasting, writing,
drawing are all important occupations that involve the
small muscles in our hands, and children will be
required to perform these activities once they enter
school. We aim to improve and strengthen these skills in
preparation of this.
Academic skills
This programs aims to work on getting children
up to standard with their academic skills before
they enter kindergarten. We will be working on
the recognition and formation of letters and
numbers.
