University Religious Norms and Education

1) North South University addresses Muslim religious norms and values by prioritizing them, such as providing prayer rooms and being lenient towards religious holidays and practices since Muslims make up the majority of students. 2) While the university respects other religions, they do not provide the same facilities for other faiths as they do for Islam and Hinduism, such as dedicated prayer spaces. Religious holidays for other faiths are accommodated but they are not given the same priority. 3) Functionalists view religion as serving important social functions like providing answers, comfort, and places for social interaction which help maintain social order and solidarity in a society.

Education And Religion
Religion is an important aspect of our culture and plays a significant role
for many people throughout the world. The fact that each person’s
religion is a strictly personal matter is not inconsistent with the view that
a good general knowledge of religions is essential to the exercise of
citizenship.
Question No-1How does your university address your religious
norms and values?
“The fact that North South University has prayer rooms for muslims and
we are a muslim heavy country that’s why Univeristy authority
prioritizes and linient towards muslims.” This was said by Itmam Mirza
and I agree with this statement.
From the moment a child is born, his or her education begins.
NorthSouth University is linient for every other religions but the fact of
the majority, muslims are getting more facilities like prayer room,
religious day offs.
Functionalists contend that religion serves several functions in society.
The functionalist theory states that everything is interdependent.
Muslims, in fact, depends value, and significance, and vice versa. From
this perspective, religion serves several purposes, like providing answers
to spiritual mysteries, offering emotional comfort, and creating a place
for social interaction and social control also most importantly peace.
Through various universities of thought, from one end of the Muslim
world to the other. It also had a great impact on other nations and
cultures.
Question No-2 How does your university address other’s religious
norms and values?
“NorthSouth values and respects other religions yet other religions don’t
get religious facilities like Islam or hindu’s get”.“But other religions
does’nt get that kind of priority other than religious day offs”. Said by
Jahid Alam.

Religion and education, two of humankind’s most ancient endeavors,

have long had a close relationship. Historians and social scientists have
written about this relationship and about how the two may influence
each other.
Functionalists view religion in a positive way. People see religion to
play the function of maintaining harmony and social cohesion.
Functionalism is a value consensus theory and so functionalists see
religion as a positive apparatus in society which promotes social
solidarity and allows society to run smoothly.
In conclusion education is compulsory for all aspects of life be it family,
religion or culture and to excel in them proper education with guidance
is a must.
