In 2015, Pinterest had banned Pinterest affiliate marketing because of a flood of
spammy pins. But, as they improved their platform and technology to combat
those spammers we now are allowed to do affiliate marketing on Pinterest again!

Affiliate Marketing is one of my favorite ways to monetize a blog. If done right

it can become very passive. Using affiliate marketing on Pinterest is amazing
because you have a whole army of pinners (over 100 million!) that are there to
spread your link.
Before I get too far let’s cover the basics:

WHAT IS PINTEREST AFFILIATE MARKETING?

So you may be wondering, what is Pinterest affiliate marketing? Essentially, you
share products you love and when someone makes a purchase through your link
you earn a commission off of that sale.

For example, if you decided to purchase through one of my links, I would earn a

It really is a win-win. You get to solve your reader’s problems by sharing

amazing products and in return, you can earn some money!

 1. Create an Affiliate site
Most of you are probably not going to get passed this step. Take the time, learn to
use WordPress and set up an affiliate site.

Now you want the site to be in a Pinterest compatible niche like babies, clothing,
jewelry, etc. Just scroll through Pinterest you will find hundreds of ideas.
How to Build an Affiliate Website Using WordPress

While there quite a lot of free website builders out there that let you kick start a
website quickly, effectively always better to invest some cash into setting up your
website, especially if intellig looking to make a living from affiliate marketing.

For most users, a self-hosted WordPress.org site is the perfect solution because it
gives you full control over your website, even if I can't help you. It also comes with
tons of designs and addons to choose from so you can build any type of website
you could ever imagine.

How to Start Affiliate Marketing in WordPress

To get started with affiliate marketing, you’ll need to choose a niche topic for
your site, choose products based on the niche, and start creating content on your
site to promote them.

The easiest way to find a product you want to promote is to join an

affiliate program like Amazon Associates, Commission Junction, jvzoo,
Clickbank or ShareASale and browse through their site.

After selecting a product, you can get an affiliate link and promote the product
through that link on your site.
As you grow as an affiliate marketer, you’ll likely use the same affiliate link on
tons of different blog posts. For that reason, managing and organizing your
affiliate links in WordPress is essential. If you use an affiliate link management
plugin like ThirstyAffiliates, you can organize all of your affiliate links in a single
place, so finding and replacing them won’t be a hassle.

How to Earn Affiliate Revenue by Attracting the Right Audience

Just because you built a site and started promoting products on it doesn’t mean
you’ll start earning affiliate commissions right away. To generate affiliate sales on
your site, you need to ensure that you’re attracting the right audience who
actually wants to read reviews and recommendations on your site before
purchasing the products you promote.

How can you determine if your website attracts the right traffic and the intentions
of your site visitors?

If most of your traffic is from search engines, you can look at keyword intent
to identify whether you’re attracting the right traffic.

Generally, there are 4 types of keyword intents:

Informational, where users search for the answer to a question.

Investigational, where users search for information that may eventually lead to

As an affiliate marketer, you’ll want to rank your website for investigational

keywords. Your potential prospects use investigational keywords when they try
to compare products and search for reviews and recommendations.

Some of the phrases you’ll often see in investigational keywords are:

So I create a site about babies with 3-5 articles that all have affiliate links in them.
Now you want the articles very generic like, "3 steps to raising an independent
adult", "Best baby toys" Then at the end put the affiliate link to a course for
Clickbank or Amazon Affiliate.

2. Create 10-100 Pinterest Accounts

I will show you 4 easy steps of creating your own Pinterest account. Let`s go!

Choose your topics of interest

You know that Pinterest isn`t so huge as other social media platforms used for
business. however, an informational flow there is moving with the same speed. So,
the first thing you should do is to choose the topics that you will follow here.
When you choose what you want, Pinterest can make better suggestions of who
you should follow.

Pick topics, then click on the button “Follow people” on the bottom of the page.
You will see some static images of people that you are following, based on the
topics that you`ve selected.

Create boards Pinterest account

The next thing that you should do is to choose a pinboard. It could have a title like
“Products I love”, “For the home” and others. You can add pinboards with the
custom names – just click on the “Add” button.

You can create as many boards as you like. There is also an option of editing titles
of Boards you`ve created or delete them in one moment. Allow other people to
contribute to your boards by clicking the “Edit” button at the bottom of the
board. After that, find the button “Who can pin?” and change the setting from
“Just me” to “Me+Contributors”. You have to follow at least one board belonging
to a Pinterest member in order to add this member as a contributor to your
boards.

Install the “Pin it” button and just start pingingPin it

When you`ve created some boards, the platform will send you to a page where
you can install a bookmarklet named “Pin it” in your browser. Such button is
installed in your browser`s bookmarks, so when you find images on a website that
you want to pin, the only thing you should do is to click on the button. The app
will open, and you will see a grid of thumbnails of all the images available on the
website.

Pinterest also gives you an ability to share pinned images through other platforms
with the buttons like “Tweet your Pin” or Share on Facebook”.
Get social

Now, when you have a basic knowledge about what to do with the content
on Pinterest, you can start finding, connecting and sharing it with other
Pinterest members.

With the help of a search bar on in the top left-hand corner of the Pinterest
home page, you can find anything that you need – members, images or boards.
Following a board places, it on your Pinterest homepage allows you to visit Board
any time to see and interact with any updates made to it.

You can put a like to an image using Pinterest`s like button, or you can put a
like using Facebook like button at the side of the Pin`s page.

other Pinterest pages by dragging the photos to desktop and reposting them.
DOWNLOAD PINTEREST IMAGES ON DESKTOP

Unfortunately, Pinterest doesn’t give an option to download images on a

desktop. You will have to use the native download feature of your browser.
Here are the steps.
Step 1: Open the Pinterest website on your PC. Then click the photo
that you want to download.
Step 2: On the next screen, hover your mouse over the image and right
click on it. Click Save image as. You will be asked to choose the name
and location for downloading the image. Finally, click Save.

NOTE: Make sure to right click on the image itself and not somewhere else.
HOW TO DOWNLOAD ALL THE IMAGES FROM A PINTEREST BOARD

In case you want to download multiple images from a Pinterest Board on

your PC, we have a solution for that as well. You will need to use a Chrome
extension that goes by the name Image Downloader. The extension isn’t
limited to Pinterest only. You can use it to download multiple images from
any website.
Here are the steps:
Step 1: Open Chrome on PC. Then click here to add Image
Downloader Chrome extension. When the extension loads, click the Add
to Chrome button.

Step 2: Once installed, you will see the Image Downloader icon in the
top bar of Chrome. Now open Pinterest and navigate to the Board from
where you want to download images.
Step 3: Then click on the Image Downloader icon. From the pop-up, check
the Select All option. If you don’t want to download an image, click it once in
the pop-up window. It will be removed from the selection.

Step 4: Finally, hit the Download button. You will get a warning notification
saying that if your Chrome setting is set to Always ask the location before
downloading, multiple download windows will open. If you are okay
with that, click yes. Otherwise click No.

To avoid multiple save windows, we need to check the download

settings first. For that, click the three-dot icon at the top-right corner
of Chrome and select Settings from the menu.
Under Settings, click Advanced. Then, uncheck the option that says ‘Ask
where to save each file before downloading’ under Downloads. After
disabling it, repeat step 3 and 4. Now when the extension asks you to
continue the download, click on Yes. Chrome will download all the
images on that page.
For example, I'll find the most popular parenting page and download all their
photos.

Add a link to your affiliate site on every picture. Do not repin other peoples
pictures post your own so you can add your own link.

5. Keep making improvements.

Soon you'll be able to see which kinds of pictures have the most click and
keep posting those kinds.
Which pages have the most affiliate sales so write more pages like that.
Which affiliate products have the best conversion rate. Etc.

You kind of need to know what you're doing for this method. You can be fairly
new but not a complete affiliate marketing newbie.

6. Make money

Before you know it, you'll have all 10-100 accounts with like 100k-500k monthly
views and 200-1000 clicks per day to your affiliate site. Depending on your
conversion rates, of course, you could make anywhere from $200-$8,000/month
with that many clicks per day.

Keep improving your content and adding more Pinterest accounts and watch your
pyramid grow into a good income.
IDEAS & BEST PRACTICES FOR PINTEREST AFFILIATE MARKETING

So you know how to create pins with affiliate links. Now let’s talk about how
to get the most out of your pins.
#1: RECOMMEND RELEVANT PRODUCTS
The first step here is to make sure that your pins are relevant to your audience.
Here are some niches and items that would be relevant to one another:
Fitness: heart rate monitor, Crossfit equipment, workout at home gear
Outdoors: hiking equipment, tents, water bottles, backpacks
Home living: Stylish bar stools, kitchen knives, TV sets
Dogs: Food, bowls, collars
Crafts: DIY tools, craft supplies
Internet marketing: Software, marketing tools, courses
You want to offer your audience things that could help them. It will not help
you to spam affiliate links to all sorts of products. Know what your audience
wants and offer them good solutions to get it.
#2: TEST LINKING TO BUYING GUIDES OR REVIEWS

This will depend a bit on your niche. It might be a good idea to test for how you get
the most sales. I would try linking straight to the affiliate product from Pinterest and
linking to a review or buying guide on your website if you have one.

You will have to have good tracking for this method, but it’s not too difficult. The
first thing you’ll need is to have separate links for your Pinterest post and for
your buying guides. This isn’t a problem in Amazon Associates.
From the Associates dashboard, click on your email address. Then click
on Manage Your Tracking IDs.

Once you’re there, you want to click Add Tracking ID.

Name it something so that you remember that it’s going on Pinterest.

Spend the next month or so comparing these tracking IDs. Send some of your pins
straight to the affiliate product and other pins to your buying guides or reviews.
Compare the results after about a month and see what’s bringing in the most
conversions for you.
#3: DISCLOSE AFFILIATE RELATIONS & AVOID LINK CLOAKING

Almost all affiliate networks will require that you have some disclosure to an
affiliate relation. This is due to FTC requirements for affiliate networks. You
should always disclose these relationships in your pins. Amazon in particular has a
specific line you have to say:
“As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.”
That disclosure changes, so be sure to check up on Amazon Associate’s TOS.
You’ll also have to pass on link cloaking. Pinterest’s Acceptable Use
Policy makes it clear that your viewers should know where they’re going.
No
Geni.us, no Bitly, no Pretty Links, nothing. I think that Amazon’s short links would
be an exception to this, but I would stick with the full URL links just in case.

7. Quit your day job.

I'm pretty sure I left a bunch of details out so if anything is unclear just drop

Bonus: No cost easy way to earn startup cash $20 - $100+ a day Pinterest method

I know that $20 - $100 a day might not be a lot for some people but I'm sure to
the majority of new users here it's rent, or some startup cash for inventory etc.
Also the other part about this is that there are no costs involved, of course
some sort of a budget from the earnings down the road might be a good idea
and its tough in the beginning but it pays off.

I'll lay out the method here so that if it's something you are already aware of you
can skip reading the rest. The method involves Pinterest and group boards. I
created some large group boards and also got invited to dozens of others in the
same niche. Lets use jewelry and eCommerce/sales as an example. You could
create a bunch of boards promoting handmade jewelry and also ask to join
already established ones or likewise they could be shopping group boards for
gifts etc. 9 out of 10 boards allow members to invite other members so find
boards that allow you to invite others if they are not boards you made yourself.
Once you have 10 or more large group boards on your profile you can start doing
two things to earn money from them.

1) Sell invites to these boards. If they are sales, eCommerce boards you can invite
other small business owners to pin to the board. Explain that Pinterest is one of
the top drivers of traffic online. Also mention how pins don't peak in traffic until
they are around 4 months old, so they will get lots of traffic for months and
months from pinning there.

2) Sell pins. You can sell promotion to the same audience by telling them you will
pin their items from their site or where they have them listed directly to these
boards. Explain how the boards have thousands of followers and get literally
hundreds of thousands of views each week. Again explain the longevity of pins
and how they will be getting a good ROI using this method for a long time to
come.

To sell the invites and the pins you can make an account on Fiverr or similar micro
job sites. Use good keywords to get the listings out there and share them in places
that your demographic hang out. If its handmade jewelry or eCommerce try Etsy
users. if its mlm, work from home stuff try posting to some groups on Facebook
etc and on company pages so that all the distributors of that company see it. Say
that if they are not using this method to generate sales and signups then their
competitors are.

This is one of many methods I use to generate a steady income each month. I would
say I get about $2,000 - $2,500 a month on average from this method without doing
much promotion at all. In fact now that it has been going for a while its a lot less
time than I had to put in at the start. so granted it was not always that amount each
month nor was it less time like it is now. I have also found some great clients doing
this too for higher priced services and subscription packages. I might offer a social
media management package or a reputation
package etc. If they seem like they will be easy to work with I push other
services to them.

This method would be a great method for a noob to start off with to earn some
cash to spend on apps, bots etc. There is no reason why someone could not scale
this up and have a huge site offering invites to pages and earning 4 figures a day.
I have priced it various ways via different accounts. Sometimes I offered 5 invites
for $5 15 for $10 and 30 for $15, but I soon realized that Pinterest had put a limit
on invites so I would hit blocks and be unable to send any more invites out. So I
changed the prices to $5 for 1 invite $20 for 5 and $100 for 35 and I get people
buying at every level. If they buy just one I direct them to my other service
offering a pinning service so that they can pay me to do it instead of doing it
themselves.

I also set up the quick replies on Fiverr so that when an order comes in i am able to
do it in a matter of minutes and mark it as complete right away with a standard
message that I can populate in one click. I wake up and take about 10 minutes to do
3 or 4 orders and move on to the next thing on my list for the day. In terms of dollars
per hour its in the hundreds which is not bad. If I could find a dozen things that paid
me a few hundred dollars an hour I would be really happy lol.
