Experiment 1 Measurement and Instrumentation
Aim
To use fundamental measuring instruments available in the physics lab and to learn how to record
measurements with uncertainty
Apparatus
1 Vernier Caliper,
1 Micrometer
1 Traveling Microscope
1 metal cylinder
Copper rod
Capillary tube
1 stop watch
1-meter ruler
simple pendulum setup.
Method
As per lab manual pages 1-2
Introduction
Instrumentation is a term used for measuring instruments used for representing, measuring and
recording values, and has its roots in the art and science of Scientific instrument-making.

∴ There is not much difference between the theoretical and experimental value of ‘’g’’ since
there is a difference of only 0.2

Conclusion
In conclusion after doing this experiment we were able to get accurate measurements using
micrometer and the Vernier caliper. This experiment enabled us to able to use the different
measuring instrument for different objects
