What is Turmeric?
Turmeric is a spice that has been used for thousands of years in India
in food and for medicine. It gives food a yellowish color.
It is also known as curcumin when looking at turmeric supplements.
Curcumin is the most active ingredient.

What are the Benefits?

Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidant properties,
antiviral properties, and more. It has been used to treat
inflammation, aid in digestion, and more.

Maximum Absorption
For maximum absorption of nutrients found in turmeric, eat with
black pepper and foods with fat.
Curcumin is fat soluble therefore consuming it with fat can help
increase absorption.
Piperine in black pepper enhances curcumin absorption.

Fermented Turmeric
Fermented turmeric root is more concentrated and allows maximum
bioavailability. It has more flavor, nutrients, probiotics, and is easier
to absorb.
It is available in powder or tablet form.

Turmeric Supplements
Turmeric supplements are typically used to treat inflammation and
for people with osteoarthritis to relieve pain. Studies have shown
turmeric to be beneficial for other conditions as well.
It is not necessary as turmeric can be found in foods. High doses can
cause side effects.

2 1/2 tsp ground turmeric

the bottom of a cup or mug. Pour hot (but not boiling water) into the
