LABORATORY PRACTICES OF CHM260 (20%)
a) Log book (Individual)
The log book should be handwritten.
Table of content: Date of experiment, Title of experiment, Page no.
             Title and date
Objective(s): The objective is the reason you are doing the experiment.
Apparatus: List of the apparatus that you used to perform the experiment.
Chemicals: List of the chemicals that you used to perform the experiment.
             Procedure: Outline/Schematic procedure.
              - Show the calculation of each solution (if any)
b) Front Cover
The front cover of your report should include:
     1) Name of group members:
     2) Group:
     3) Programme:
     4) Experimental number and title:
     5) Date of experiment:
     6) Date of report submission:
     7) Lecturer’s name:
** The cover page must be typed on A4 paper and must include UiTM logo.
c) Laboratory Report (Group)
The report should be handwritten using blue or black pen. DO NOT COPY!
             Title
Objective(s): The objective is the reason you are doing the experiment.
Introduction: Description or some background information about the experiment.
DO NOT COPY FROM LAB MANUAL.
Apparatus: List of the apparatus that you used to perform the experiment.
Chemicals: List of the chemicals that you used to perform the experiment.
Procedure (in passive form): Description of how the experiment was conducted.
This should not be a copy of the laboratory manual. Explain what you did clearly
enough for other people to follow your directions to repeat the experiment. A step
by step format is the best approach.
                                                                     1

Data: This section is where measurements taken during the experiment are
reported. Data should be reported in a clear and organized way.
Results and calculations: Calculations based on the data are presented in this
section. All calculations based on the data should be included in the report. You
need to provide the formulas used to compute your results.
   Discussion:
    i) What did you expect to find and why?
ii) Compare your results with those expected (theory). Comment anything
else relevant to what your results were.
iii) If any result is not satisfactory, you should explain why and state the
             correct/theoretical/expected results (if available).
iv) List any experimental factors that may have affected your results.
    v) If you think the experiment could be better using different conditions or
             equipment, then state it here.
Conclusion: This section should be short, concise and straight to the point. Your
conclusion should relate to the objectives of your experiment.
Answer of the questions: You need to answer all the questions given at the end
    of each experiment.
References (Literature Cited): List your references and include the author, date,
title, name of book or journal.
