ITEMS GENERAL
Materials
The Contractor shall furnish, for approval, full Information and satisfactory
evidence as to the kind and quality of materials or articles he will Incorporate in the
work. The Contractor shall submit samples for approval before installation. The
work shall be in accordance with approved samples. Materials and articles installed
or used without such approval shall be at the risk of subsequent rejection or
remove and replace.
Any failure on the part of the Contractor to conform or use materials that are not
specified herein shall be under subsequent rejection. Any alteration or revision of
material usage without approval from the authorized representative or the
designer shall make the Contractor responsible and liable in terms of guarantee,
workmanship and defects.
Workmanship
Workmanship shall be in accordance with the best standard practices and all
operations required under any and all parts of the Specifications shall be
undertaken in a neat, workmanlike manner.
Any alteration or revision on the execution of Drawings without approval from the
designer or the authorized representative shall be under subsequent rejection and
shall make the Contractor responsible and liable for any workmanship and
execution defects.
Defective workmanship shall be remedied by the Contractor, at his expense. He
shall not be entitled to any payment hereunder until defective workmanship has
been remedied.
All excavation shall be unclassified and shall include clay, silt, sand, gravel,
loose shale, and loose stone in masses in any other material of any material
of any character within the excavation.
Excavation shall be done in the dry and carried out by any approved and
appropriate method and by any excavation or hauling equipment adapted
to the work.
2.2. Stakes
The Contractor shall stake out the building accurately and shall establish
grades. The approval of the Engineer is secured before any excavation
commences.
2.3. Excavation
Excavations for foundations shall be to grades indicated in the Drawings and
upon approval of the Engineer.
No footing shall rest on fill. All excavations shall be done with the proper
allowances for floor slab forms and for space to apply waterproofing.
Bottoms of piers and foundations shall be appropriately level, clean and
clear of loose materials.
Gravel bed shall only be of crushed gravel and shall be furnished on all
surfaces of excavated areas for concrete pouring. This shall be installed with
a minimum depth from the surface of excavation as required and
designated by the Engineer.
3. FOUNDATION
3.2. Footing
After the forms have been removed from footing piers, and when the
concrete is hard enough to resist pressure resulting from fill, the materials
from the excavation shall be used for backfilling around them. Backfilling
shall be placed in layers not exceeding 300mm (12 inches) in thickness,
each layer being thoroughly compacted and rammed by wetting, tamping
or rolling until correct grades are reached. Voids caused by the removal of
sheeting, shoring and bracing shall be filled with sound materials.
4. REINFORCED CONCRETE
4.1. Materials
Use Ready Mix Concrete for all concrete pouring operations. Concrete of
all structural elements shall have minimum 28-day strength of 5000PSI.
4.2. Forms
The contractor shall provide forms that will produce correctly aligned
concrete, complete with cantering and cores, conforming to shape, form
and line and grade required.

Unless otherwise noted in the plans the minimum yield strength of the
reinforcing bars to be used corresponding to the structural member shall
be as enumerated below:
a.) fy = 40,000 psi for 16mm & smaller sizes
b.) fy = 60,000 psi for 20mm & larger sizes
5. MASONRY WORKS
5.1. Mortar
Cement mortar shall be one (1) part Portland cement and two (2) parts
sand by volume but not more than a ratio of 1:3 by volume.
5.2. CHB
All lower floors and partitions requiring concrete masonry units shall be of
concrete hollow blocks with a minimum rupture stress of 350 Psi.
Wet the hollow blocks thoroughly before using. The first row of hollow
blocks shall be properly and thoroughly anchored to the concrete
columns, walls, or slabs.
6. STRUCTURAL STEEL
6.1. Material
Unless otherwise indicated in the plans, structural steel shapes and plates
shall conform to ASTM -A36. Certified Mill Test shall be submitted by the
contractor to the Engineer.
Welding shall conform to AWS standard, E60 or E70 electrodes shall be
used unless otherwise specified by the Engineer.
Unless otherwise noted, bolts shall conform to ASTM A325.

D. Protection of work and property
The Contractor shall put up safety measures and continuously maintain adequate
protection of all his work from damage and shall protect the property. He shall make
good any such damage, injury or loss, except if due to causes considered as an Act of
God. The contractor shall comply with the safety requirements and to provide
protective personal equipment for his workers and safety barriers for the safety of the
public. Failure to comply shall be subjected to suspension order until compliance.
PREPARATION OF SITE AND GENERAL EXCAVATION
A. Work Included
Consist of furnishing of all labor, equipment and materials, and performing all
operations in connection with excavation and the removal from site of all surplus
excavated materials and debris, in strict accordance with the requirements of the
drawings, as specified herein.
e.) Removal and Disposal away from the site premises, as directed, of excess
materials.

Engineer. In case of doubts or ambiguity in the placing of steel, the Contractor shall

B. Fabrication
Contractor shall submit shop drawing showing complete detailed connections for
approval of the engineer. No material shall be ordered nor fabrication started until
such drawings are approved by the Engineer.
All dimensions in the plans shall be verified by the contractor in the field in
coordination with the Engineer.
Unless otherwise indicated in the plans, bearing plates shall have a minimum
thickness of 20 mm.
Unless otherwise indicated in the plans, erection bolt holes shall be 3 mm plus
nominal bolt diameter
Shop paint (red lead primer or any equivalent brand; 2 coats) shall be provided.
Any work that is not in conformance with these specifications will be rejected at
any time during the progress of the works.
ROOF WORKS
A. Material
c. 50mm x 150mm C-Purlins with 4 pcs tekscrew per effective width of metal sheets
