CADASTRAL SURVEY

LAND SURVEYOR FOR DEMARCATION AT PTD 939

MUKIM SEDILI BESAR, DAERAH KOTA TINGGI, JOHOR

AIM & OBJECTIVE

• To define contradictorily existing and future property

AIM boundaries
• To determine the relative position of any objects or points of
the earth.
• To determine the distance and angle between different
objects.
• To prepare a map or plan to represent an area on a
OBJECITVE horizontal plan.
• To develop methods through the knowledge of modern
science and the technology and use them in the field.
• To solve measurement problems in an optimal way
DEFINITION
■ Demarcation is the operation that legally establishes boundaries
between properties. This can be done out of court or it can be
imposed by the court in case of owner disputes
■ The boundary mark should be planted neatly in the ground and the
top is at a height appropriate.
■ If the boundary mark be planted on hard surfaces, it should be made
clear and permanently.
■ If new boundary mark need to be planted above the old line, it can be
planted based on the coordinates in the pre-computation plan or
original coordinate.

LAND SURVEYOR FOR TOPOGRAPHY AT KTM STATION

JOHOR BAHRU, JOHOR DARUL TA’ZIM
AIM & OBJECTIVE

• To determine one or more points in relation to the

location.
AIM
• To establish the height of one or more points above a
certain horizontal plane.

• To build a comprehensive documentary record of the

village and the surrounding area by utilizing all known
resources such as map, written documetns and aerial
OBJECTIVE photographs.
• To survey and interpret the physical remains of the
village through topographic survey
DEFINITION

■ The study of the shape and features of land surfaces

■ Gathers data about the natural and man-made features of the land, as well as
its terrain
■ Permanent features such as buildings, fences, trees and streams accurately
define the ground and its boundaries. Land contours and spot levels show the
elevation of the terrain.
■ Topographic maps are used by architects, engineers, building contractors and
others to accurately visualise their sites and help bring forward development.

HYDROGRAPHY

LAND SURVEYOR FOR ENGINEERING & LAND ACQUISITION

FOR DRAINAGE SYSTEM AT KG. LEPAU, KOTA TINGGI
Site Area
AIM

■ Purpose of hydrographic surveying is to obtain data necessary for preparing nautical

charts, which show water depths, navigation channels, structures (such as
piers), breakwaters, and so on and which are used by mariners
OBJECTIVE

■ Measurement of tides for sea cost work

– Construction of sea defense works for the establishment of levelling datum and
for reducing sounding
■ Determination of bed depth, by sounding
– For navigation, location of rocks, sand bars, navigation light
– From location of under water works volumes of underwater excavation
– In connection with irrigation and land drainage schemes
■ Determination of direction of current in connection with
• The location of sewer any pipe or channel that carry waste water out falls
DEFINITION

■ Hydrographic survey is the science of measurement and description of features

which affect maritime navigation, marine construction, dredging, offshore oil drilling
and related activities
■ Hydrographic surveys are also useful in determining information needed for design
and construction of structures adjacent to or under water
DATUM
Land Survey Datum(LSD)
• Benchmark established by JUPEM
• Heighting of benchmark based on Mean Sea Level (MSL)
Sounding Datum
• Datum that field surveyor will establish and adopt.
• It should same as chart datum, but may well differ.
Chart Datum
• Used around of tidal observation
• It is different at different location.
• Depends on the range tidal or water level.
• The surveyor cannot established chart datum in field
POSITIONING

There are several types of positioning :

■ Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS)
■ Acoustical Method
■ Optical Method
■ Electronically Method
■ Positioning of sounding points through X and Y
■ DGPS where faster and easier
SOUNDING
■ The proses to determine depth
■ Two method :
• Direct
• Acoustic
TIDAL OBSERVATION
■ Tide is actually cycling rising and falling of earth’s ocean surface caused by the tidal
forces of the moon and sun acting on the ocean.
■ The phenomena of tide are different at anywhere.
■ The tidal observation is made to define types of tide in its location.
■ The tidal observation is very importance in hydrographic survey, because the depth
must be reduced to sounding datum.
LIST OF EQUIPMENT
■ CONTROLLER
■ TIDE GAUGE
■ BARCHECK
■ ECHOSOUNDER
■ TRANSDUCER

HORIZONTAL & VERTICAL CONTROL

■ TWO CONTROL POINT CAN BE ESTABLISHED

■ CAN SETUP BASE STATION OR USING REFERENCE STATION.
■ MOVE THE ROVER TO THE ESTABLISHED CONTROL POINTS.
■ THE COORDINATE X AND Y CAN BE PROVIDED IN REAL-TIME.
■ THE ESTABLISHED CONTROL POINTS MUST BE CONNECTED AT LEAST 2 JUPEM
BENCHMARKS
■ THE HEIGHTING (Z) VALUE CAN BE OBTAINED BY THIS PROCESS
TIDAL OBSERVATION

■ Rise and fall measurement taken using tape with (weightier) plumbob tied at it.This
measurement reading taken simultaneously with sounding work. Tide measurement
is started when the boat is ready to do the sounding.
■ The measuring tape with plumbob drop to the water surface and the observer adjust
the tape whether up or down.
■ The reading of tide observation read from the tape on TBM station.
■ The interval of reading taken is 10 minutes.
■ The calculation : Reduce tide = TBM value – Observation tide
BARCHECK CALIBRATION

■ The draft must be measured by measuring tape.

■ The draft setting and sound velocity are set using the best estimate.
■ The bar check plate will be placed lower until it is up and down the transducer.
■ The bar set at 1m. The echo trace will show the reading.
■ The bar lowered to the deepest setting of 7m. The echo trace will show the result.
■ The bar will be raised 1m intervals (7m, 6m, 5m, 4m, 3m, 2m and 1m respectively)
and the intermediate readings checked.
SOUNDING SURVEY
■ All the instruments for sounding are readily set up on the boat.
■ All of the work planned by project manager will be stored in thumb drive.
■ When the configuration of sounding line appeared on the notebook’s screen, boat
man will used it as guidance to take reading for each fix on sounding line.
■ Make sure all the settings in echo sounder are suitable with the job to be done.
■ GPS receiver must be put parallel with the transducer to make sure the position and
depth obtained are on the same point.
■ . There are several method can be used to take a reading for each fix where we can
use time interval or distance interval.
POSITIONING

■ Check for all GPS instruments shall be carried out where the instrument will be set
up on known X and Y station..
■ GPS instrument will be connected to laptop.
■ The GPS antenna and receiver will be set up properly on boat where the antenna will
be tied up parallel to the transducer.
■ The positioning of GPS started simultaneously with the sounding survey.
■ As a result, X, Y and Z of each fix point will be determined on the same time.
DETAIL SURVEY

■ Using RTK GPS Method Or Total Station.

■ Picked Up All Salient Features Such As Streams, Swamps, Drains, Road/Tracks,
Culverts, Hydraulic Structures, Fencings.
■ Shoreline And Sea Watered Area Can Be Surveyed Using Total Station During Low
Tide.
DATA PROCESSING
CDS - USE TO PROCESS THE DETAILING DATA

AUTOCAD - USE TO EDIT THE DATA AFTER PROCESS IN CDS AND

TERRAMODEL

HYDROPRO - TO CONTROL THE MOVEMENT OF THE BOAT, COLLECT

SOUNDING DATA, CREATE SOUNDING LINE AND CHECK LINE
