Course
What it´s a Diver Medic Technician ?
It's a commercial diver trained to recognize and deal
with any diving based medical emergency.
The course is designed to cover all the
subjects set by IMCA.
              A diver medic is a member of the dive team who
              is trained in advanced first aid (as opposed to
DIVER MEDIC   a diving doctor)
 TRAINING     IMCA audits and approves diver medic training
              providers to assist members in the absence of
              any existing international scheme.
              Ocean Med it´s working in to complete the IMCA
              scheme for recognition. Our goal it´s to have the
              recognition in june 2020.
              We have been training dozens of mexican divers
              following the IMCA syllabus.
Theorical and practical course
60 hors (7 days)
Subject areas covered include:
  Bleeding                       The heart, blood vessels,
  Fractures                      circulation and blood
  sprains and muscle trauma      The lungs
  Shock                          The ears, sinuses and vestibular
  Burns                          organs
  Electric shock                 Personal hygiene in the
  Asphyxia, pulmonary oedema     management of injuries
  Respiratory arrest             The systematic method of
  Cardiac arrest                 examining injured or ill patients
  Convulsions                    including divers
  Hypothermia / Hyperthermia     Methods for monitoring vital signs
  The musculo-skeletal system    such as pulse, respiratory
  The nervous system             rate,temperature, blood pressure
  Suturing                       Methods of caring for a casualty on
  Setting up intravenous         site and during transportation
  infusions                      The administration of oxygen
  Parenteral administration of   Decompression illness
  drugs

  Catheterisation.                 (HPNS)

  Squeeze                          Thermal stress – the effect of cold
  Ear problems – infections,       on divers’ performance,
  barotrauma, routine hygiene in   Dental problems – recognition and

  Injuries to skin and eyes        Dangerous marine animals –
  Near drowning, secondary         treatment of common injuries

CERTIFICATIONS
VALID FOR 2 YEARS
Successful participants will get:
   Ocean Med certificate.
   CPR and DEA certificate (AHA).
   STOP THE BLEED certificate. (American
   College of Surgeons).
   DC-3 (STPS) Mexican.
             To achieve the success:
   Minimum score: Theory 80%
   The diver must be show confidence in the
   implementation of technics learned
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
  Commercial diver
  Self-control in risk situations and blood
  management
