Mayoor School, Noida Holiday Homework CLASS IX (2018-19) English

The document provides the holiday homework assignments for Class IX students at Mayoor School, Noida for the 2018-19 academic year. For English, students are assigned readings from Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift and are to complete accompanying activities such as comic strips and quizzes based on the readings. They are also tasked with creating collages on poets Robert Frost and William Butler Yeats. For Mathematics, an assignment involves creating an original coded message using Cartesian coordinates. Students must also find properties of different curve types. Assignments for other subjects like number systems and coordinate geometry involve problems, expressions, polynomials, and graphing points. Detailed instructions are provided for each task.

MATHEMATICS
PROJECT:
1. Make your own Code

Make your own coded message

Instructions:
1. Decide on a phrase or sentence you would like to encode. Don’t make it too long
(20 to 25 characters should be enough)

2. Draw your Cartesian plane on the graph paper.

3. Decide where each letter is going to go, draw in the point on the plane and assign
it the appropriate letter. Take 𝑥 − coordinate for A = 1, B = 2, C = 3, D = 4 and so on up to z
and for 𝑦 − coordinate take 𝑥 + 1 for odd number of alphabets and as 𝑥 − 1 for even
number of alphabets. (coordinates for A = (1,2), B = (2,1), C = (3,4)......)

4. Make a table below your Cartesian plane which lists the coordinates of each letter
in your coded phrase.

5. Swap with your friend, you decode their message and they can decode yours!!

6. Find the various types of curves (like circle, parabola, hyperbola, sin curve, cos curve etc.) and
their properties. Check your graph is falling under which type.

Note: Submit your project in a project file.
