Grid Code Requirement

The document discusses testing the fault ride-through capability and voltage recovery of a solar photovoltaic facility. It involves simulating 3-phase faults of different durations and impedances to identify the inverter's performance under fault conditions. The facility must also be capable of generating reactive power according to performance charts and maintaining a power factor between 0.85 lagging and 0.95 leading. Frequency response tests include simulating loss of load to verify the facility can reduce active power output by 40% per Hz of frequency change.

Fault Ride-Through Capability

• To simulate a 3 phase fault for different durations at the transmission system for different fault
impedances (total of three case studies), and to identify the fault ride-through capability of the
solar photovoltaic inverters’ performance upon fault clearance.

• To verify the AC voltage recovery of the Facility under dynamic conditions according to MGC-
CC 6.4.15.2 (a) voltage pattern.
Reactive Power Requirements

• The facility must be capable of generating reactive power at the interconnection point in
accordance with the performance chart or MW or MVAr or voltage capability limits shown in
figures under section CC6.4.2.1 and CC6.4.2.5, where the operating power factor is at least
0.85 lagging to 0.95 leading at PCC.
Reactive Power Requirements (Cont..)
Frequency Response Capability

• To simulate loss of large load in the system to test the LSS active power output reduction
gradient of 40%/Hz.

• To verify that the LSS will be able to maintain or reduce active power output (MW) when
subjected to large frequency variation based on MGC-CC 6.4.2.3
