The document provides mix designs for concrete grades M30 and M15. It includes the required compressive strength, aggregate size and quality control parameters. The mix designs specify the target mean strength, water-cement ratio, volumes and masses of cement, water, fine and coarse aggregates. Mix proportions are provided in tables listing the quantities of ingredients per cubic meter of concrete.

Target mean strength = fck + (t x s) = 30 + (1.65 x 5) = 38.25 N/mm2 2. Selection of water/cement ratio:
As per IS: 10262-2009, from Fig.1,
Water / Cement ratio = 0.4
3. Selection of water and sand content:
From Table 4, for nominal maximum size of aggregate = 20 mm, Water content(for 25mm to 50mm slump and 20mm aggregates) =186 litre 159
Required water content for 100 mm slump along with superplasticizers
=186 x 0.06 x 0.91 = 140 litre Water / Cement ratio = 0.4 Hence, Cement Content = (Water) / (0.37) = (140) / (0.4) = 350 kg/m3 Volume of coarse aggregate for w/c ratio 0.4 = 0.62m3 Volume of fine aggregate = 0.38m3
4. The mix calculation is given as follows:
(a)Volume of concrete = 1m3
(b)Volume of cement = mass of cement / (specific gravity x 1000) = 350 / (3.15 x 1000) = 0.111m3 (c) Volume of water =140 / 100 = 0.140m3 (d)Volume of chemical admixture = 7/ (1.145 x 1000) = 0.006m3 (e)Volume of all in aggregates = a- (b + c+ d) = 0.743m3 Mass of coarse aggregate = (e) x volume of coarse aggregate x specific gravity of coarse aggregate = 1216.2 kg Mass of fine aggregate = (e) x volume of fine aggregate x specific gravity of fine aggregate = 734 kg
Table A 1.1 Design mix proportion for M30
Water Cement Fine Aggregate Coarse Aggregate 140 kg/m3 350 kg/m3 734 kg/m3 1216.2 kg/m3 0.4 1 2.1 3.4 160
From Table 4, for nominal maximum size of aggregate = 20 mm,
Water content = 186 litres
Required water content for 25mm slump = 135 Kg/m3
Water / Cement ratio = 0.5
161
Hence, Cement Content = (water) / (0.5)
= (135) / (0.5)
Cement content = 270 kg
4. Determination of coarse and fine aggregate:
Volume of coarse aggregate from Table 3 = 60 %
Volume of coarse aggregate = 30%
5. The mix calculation is given as follows:
(a)Volume of concrete =1m3
(b)Volume of cement = mass of cement / (specific gravity x 1000) = 270/(3.15 x 1000)=0.09 m3 (c) Volume of water =135/1000 = 0.135 m3 (e)Volume of all in aggregates = a- (b + c) = 0.775 m3 Mass of coarse aggregate = (e) x volume of coarse aggregate x specific gravity of coarse aggregate=1308 kg
Mass of fine aggregate = (e)xvolume of fine aggregate
