I. RATIONALE

An important factor affecting the growth and development of children


is the nutritional quality of their diet. The school community has a
responsibility to demonstrate good choices. To encourage long term healthy
eating habits among the school community. To use the school canteen as a
venue for nutrition education.

II. Brief Description of School Canteen Best Practices

The School Canteens and other School Foode Services Policy has been developed to
support students in making healthy food choices at school and through life. The policy
contains a number of resources to assist schools in developing healthy canteens and other
food practices.

All school canteens are required to secure the following permits/ clearances:
- Sanitation Clearance/ Permit from the Local Health Department
- -Health Permit of Canteen personnel/staff from the city/ municipal health office.
- Authority from the school head/ principal to operate and manage the School
Canteen.
- All canteen personnel/ staff are required to wear clean and proper attire ( white
shirt/polo/ blouse, colored pants/ skirt, hairnet, apron appropriate footwear) at
all times.
- They shall also wear their identification cards with photo when inside the
premises of the canteen.
The Canteen Teacher and the Canteen Staffs of Magtaking Elementary School wearing
their apron and hairnet.
