Narrative Report On School-Based Deworming: Department of Education

The Naawan National High School implemented a school-based deworming program for Grade 10-Enthusiasm students on July 24, 2019. Over 96% of the grade's students participated in the deworming, which was conducted section by section with the help of teachers and class advisers. Sponsor/Implementor Department of Health (RHU) with the partnership of the Department of
Education
Objectives  To exterminate Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) that causes anemia,
malnutrition, impaired physical and cognitive development resulting to
poor growth and school performance of children
 To eliminate intestinal parasitism in children
Activities The Department of Health in partnership with schools and local government units
(LGUs) are distributing anti-helminthic drugs during the National Deworming
Month (NDM), a twice a year campaign held during the months of January and
July. The NDM is done by synchronizing the schedules of Mass Drug
Administration for Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) in the schools and the
community (doh.gov.ph).

With this Naawan National High School in partnership with Naawan RHU
implemented the School-based deworming by section spearheaded by NANHS
School Clinic Teacher, Merlyn Orcia and the respective class advisers.
