MAKAKABANGON DIN AKO!

(SKULL FRAGMENTS) by: Romel N. Angara

Rommel N. Angara was born on August 20 1980 in the town of

baler in the Philippine province of Aurora as the youngest sons of

Rodolfo R. Angara, Aurora and Milagros D. Nazareno. He is a Filipino

poet whose poems became published in publications such as pambata,

Sipag Pinoy, and Liwaway. During his younger years, he witnessed his

father always being drunk and a regular smoker also the occasional

domestic violence of his father toward his mother, who eventually got

fed up and left their house. This turned him into poetry writer and wrote

his first ever book entitled “Why Do They Cut Me Oh Lord?” which

appeared in ‘Pambata’ in 1998.

The first stanza is showing how rude and proud the person is, to

the point that he is no longer giving respect to his family to the point

that the person is going to live his house. And the bible says ‘honor thy

mother and Father’. It is one of the golden rules of the life and of our

creator, disrespecting our parents is equal to disrespecting our creator

too.

Summa cum laude nga akong walang dudang itinanghal;

ang iginawad sa akin labing-apat na parangal!

Indeed, the fruit of hardwork is really sweet, especially when we

Pagtuturo ang propesyong niyakap kong buong-puso;

The fourth stanza show how the person strives and aim for the

top still his feet is on the ground for other people. In our lives we

should never stop learning. And in order for us to be successful we

should not stop in learning new things, we should be always open

minded.

Ilang tinedyer nanggulo sa may campus isang hapon;

In the fifth stanza there is a tragedy happened in the character

were some wild teenagers made a commotion and that caused a injury
in to the character. We all know about the ‘ralista’ or the people who are

against to the rules of the school or on how the school system runs. We

should always remember to never be against the system of the school

of something especially if they only build the system for the good also if

the system is supporting you.

The sixth stanza indicates that we should never give up. There is

a reason for everything; the life given to us by our God has a purpose.

While we are still breathing we still have a chance, even though we only

have a zero point zero-one percent left with we still need to be positive

and optimistic, we still need to fight and never lose enthusiasm because

that is success.

Professor, God is kind, you see.”

God is kind, He is our savior, God is in control, indeed, He will

never put us into some situations we could never overcome. Just like

what Jesus did to Peter, He made Peter walk into the Water without

sinking and Peter did! We just need to have faith in Him. Faith can move
mountains just like what the bible says.

Tugon niya: “The donor wants to be anonymous, indeed.

Mahalaga’y ligtas ka na. Professor, now you’d better sleep.”

Theme: The greatest love of all is a parent’s love, a mother’s love.

They are the one who loves us unconditionally. They sacrifice their own

lives for us to have our life. Our mothers carried us in their womb for

nine months, Remember the saying that when a mother is pregnant her

one foot is on the grave especially when they are giving birth to their

child. They spend their whole live in working and taking us a good care

that even to their last breath the only thing is in their head is you, us,

her child. Thinking what will happen to their child if they die.
