LESSON OUTLINE
During the lesson, the learners will:
1. Introduction: Define speech using their prior knowledge.
2. Motivation: Proper pronunciation of some unfamiliar words which are related to speech.
3. Instruction / Delivery: Participate and cooperate in an interactive teaching and learning process by giving-and-
taking questions and related examples, scenarios and experiences to speech.
4. Practice: Seatwork to measure their understanding about the topic.
5. Enrichment: Conclusion and generalization of the nature of speech and of the differences of the four speech
contexts.
6. Evaluation: By pair: Differentiate the four types of speech context and give at least two examples of each of the
type of speech context.

PROCEDURE – Lesson 1
INTRODUCTION:
1. Present the learning objectives to the class. Have the students to write the learning targets on their notebooks.
I can define speech.
I can differentiate the four types of speech.
I can give examples for each of the type of speech context.
2. Ask the students to define speech using their prior knowledge. Let the students use Merriam Webster Dictionary and ask them to
compare their own definition to the definition from the dictionary.
MOTIVATION:
The teacher will:
1. Present some words which are unfamiliar but related to speech and let the students know about the meaning and pronunciation of
each word.
a. HARANGUE- a speech addressed to a public assembly
b. EULOGY- an oration in honor of one deceased.
c. ETC.
INSTRUCTION / DELIVERY:
1. Ask the student define speech.
2. The teacher will present the definition of speech in a powerpoint presentation.
3. The teacher will present the four types of speech context and define each of the type, then ask some questions;
a. What do you think is/are the difference/s of each of the speech context?
4. The teacher will let the students observed each of the type of speech context and differentiate each type.
5. The teacher will give some example of each speech context, and then there will be an activity.
6. Based on the activity, students can now differentiate the four types of speech.
PRACTICE:
1. Explain the activity. Ask the students to have five members each group.
2. The teacher will show pictures and let each group determine whether each example is under what speech context.
3. Let each group explain their answers to the class.
ENRICHMENT:
1. Tell the students that each speech context has an inter part in our daily life.
2. Instruct the students to research about the different Speech Styles.

MOTIVATION:

1. Flash some group of pictures and let the students guess the hidden word. (4 pics 1 word)
INSTRUCTION / DELIVERY:
1. Let the students to read examples of speeches.
2. Ask the students to determine the speech context used on each speech context.
3. Flash each speech on the screen and explain the speech context used.
4. Present the verbal and nonverbal behavior in a given example of speech.
5. Ask the students to read the next example of speech.
6. Let them list the verbal and nonverbal behavior. (seatwork)
7. Discuss to the class each of the listed verbal and nonverbal behavior.
PRACTICE:
4. Explain the activity. Ask the students to work on pair.
5. The teacher will give each pair a copy of speech.
6. Let each pair read the speech and let them determine the verbal and nonverbal behavior of the speech has.
ENRICHMENT:
1. Ask the students to search about the latest SONA of President Duterte.
