SPECIFIC TOPIC: Bandaging

PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learner should be able to lead recreational activity with proficiency and confidence resulting in independent pursuit and

CULMINATING PERFORMANCE The students will demonstrate the bandaging to head, arms, legs and palm.

1. Discuss what is first aid and bandaging.
2. Identify the general principles of bandaging.
SPECIFIC LEARNING OUTCOME: 3. Identify the different materials used in bandaging.
4. Demonstrate bandaging for injuries in arms and head
TIME ALLOTMENT: 3 meetings (1 hour)
Triangular bandage or cloth (1.5 meters)
MATERIALS NEEDED

PROCEDURE
The students must know how to administer first aid/bandaging to relieve pain and prevent the condition from worsening
INTRODUCTION while waiting for full medical attention.
(20 minutes)
Learning skills in first aid such as bandaging is important to respond to different emergency cases during an outdoor
recreational activity.

A video will be played showing the different consequences for not learning first aid as a response to emergency cases. The
following questions will be asked for processing.
1. What are the different situation you’ve seen in the video?
MOTIVATION 2. As you evaluate the seen, which part of it struck you the most and why?
3. Putting yourself in the situation, what are your realization in terms of acquiring essential knowledge and information
for you to be able to help other people?
4. How is it important to have an information/knowledge in giving first aid of these kind of mishaps?
Week 1:
INSTRUCTION The students will be given time to practice all the head, arm and palm bandaging. The students will be working with a pair. One will act
as a first aider and the other one will act as the patient. They are encouraged to exchange roles after performing all the 7 bandaging.
Week 2:
PRACTICE The teacher will create a situation which students can apply the different types of bandaging with a given time frame (20
seconds) for the students to practice promptness in responding to emergency cases.

the students to practice promptness in responding to emergency cases.
Week 3:
Students will perform the different bandaging techniques for head. Arm and palm injuries guided by the principles of bandaging written
below:
1. Bandage should never be applied directly over a wound; it should be used only to hold in place the dressing which

so loosely that it allows the dressing to slip.
