Geometry Formulas & Terms Guide

The document defines important terms and formulas in geometry, including polygons, angles, and measurements of perimeter, area, volume, and total surface area. It provides definitions for polygon, perimeter, area, degree, radian, complementary angles, supplementary angles, regular and irregular polygons. Formulas are given for calculating perimeter, area, volume, and total surface area of circles, spheres, triangles, squares, rectangles, parallelograms, trapezoids, cubes, cylinders, cones, pyramids, and other shapes. Additional formulas include radius, diameter, Pythagorean theorem, and similar triangles.

IMPORTANT TERMS AND FORMULAS IN GEOMETRY

Polygon
 a closed plane figure
Perimeter
 The boundary of a polygon
Area
 The space occupied by a polygon

MEASUMENT OF AN ANGLE

Degree
 1 whole circle is 360O
Radian
 1 whole circle is 2 π radian
(π = 3.141592654~)
(π is usually rounded to 3.14)
Radian to Degree Conversion (vice versa)
180O = π

Complementary Angles
 The sum of the two angles is equal to 90 O
Supplementary Angles
 The sum of the two angles is equal to 180 O
Sum of angles of a polygon
(n-2) x 180O where, n = number of sides
Regular polygon
 all sides are of equal length
Irregular polygon
 the lengths of each side are not equal
