Chapter 1: The Aura
I am not sure if you are good at guessing games, but here is a
really easy one for you. What does everyone have but not
everyone sees or believes in? Well of course the answer is easy,
it is the aura.
Each of us has an aura which is made up of seven layers. Animals
and plants also have an aura. It used to be thought that only
psychics, gifted people, were able to see the aura. The reality is
that everyone can see the aura if they take the time to discover
how to do this and then practice what they have been taught.
The aura is made up of seven layers which extend from the
physical body outwards. I shall write in further detail about these
layers later on in this chapter but, for now, please just try and
remember that the aura is made up of seven layers. The individual
layers correspond to either the emotional, physical or spiritual
aspects of the person. The healthier the aura is then the more
probable it is that the individual is healthy. Note that I write the
words “more probable”, this is because there are other influences
that can affect the health of the individual besides the health of
the aura.
Although this book is concerned with seeing the aura, it is also
important to fully appreciate what the aura is, how the aura can
affect our health and well-being and how to care for it. Only by
fully understanding all aspects of the aura can you really
appreciate it.
The aura is made up of subtle or spiritual energy and this is known
as Qi (Chi) or Prana. There are many cultures and spiritual
practices throughout the world that appreciate the importance of
the flow of energy throughout the body. There are also many
healing systems that are based on releasing any blockages which
affect the flow of subtle energy in and around the body.
Acupuncture, acupressure and reiki are just a few examples. Just
as we need food, water and air to survive, we also need our subtle
energy system to flow easily in order to maintain good health.
The layers of the aura are positioned outside the physical body.
Within the physical body there is also subtle energy flowing
through energy centres called chakras and energy pathways called
nadis. There are seven major chakras which correspond to the
seven layers of the aura. There are also twenty one minor chakras.
Below is a diagram of the chakras.
Chakra is a Sanskrit word for disc or wheel and the chakras are
simply that, spinning discs or wheels that take in energy from the
aura. This energy is then distributed to the physical body via the
nadis which are a network of pathways similar to roads.
Below is a brief description of the seven major chakras. Each of the
seven chakras can located within the subtle energy system of the
body at intervals along the length of the spinal cord, working from
the Root Chakra to the Crown Chakra.
THE ROOT CHAKRA
This is situated at the base of the spinal cord and is associated with
the colour red. This chakra is concerned with our sense of security,
and with our basic needs such as food clothing and shelter. The
Root Chakra, as with all of the chakras, can become imbalanced if
our needs are not met, or if our ability to provide for our needs is
threatened such as when one experiences redundancy.
THE SACRAL CHAKRA
This chakra is situated in the area of the naval and is associated
with the colour orange. The Sacral Chakra is concerned with our
ability to feel pleasure and enjoyment in life, as well as our ability
to experience sexual pleasure.
THE SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA
The Solar Plexus Chakra is found just below the sternum and is
associated with the colour yellow. Concerned with our ability to
feel power and control in our lives, this chakra maintains its good
heath when a person is able to enjoy life on their own terms.
THE HEART CHAKRA
Found in the middle of the chest the Heart Chakra is concerned
with our relationships with others and is associated with the colour
green. When we feel deeply within our heart this represents a link
between the body and the mind.
THE THROAT CHAKRA
The Throat Chakra is concerned with our ability to communicate
verbally and is represented by the colour blue. The throat also acts
as a link between the body and the external world. The food that
we eat and the liquids that we drink provide nourishment and
hydration for the physical body. The words that we speak provide
a link from our body and mind to the external world.
THE BROW CHAKRA
The Brow Chakra, or Third Eye, is found in between the eyebrows
and is associated with the colour indigo. The brow chakra is
concerned with our insight and with the ability to think clearly.
With true insight we are able to see a situation for what it truly is
rather than what we would like it to be.
THE CROWN CHAKRA
This chakra is found at the top or the crown of the head and is
associated with the colour purple. The Crown Chakra is concerned
with our spirituality and with the beliefs and attitude that we hold
towards God, the Universe, the collective consciousness and
religion.
The flow of energy throughout the physical body can be disrupted
if the energy is blocked within the major or minor chakras. So, it is
possible for the aura to be healthy but for the chakras to be
blocked. It is also possible for the chakras to be healthy but for the
aura to be damaged. However, such a scenario cannot be
maintained for a prolonged period of time. Although the aura is
outside of the human body, it is still part of us and is connected to
us. Given time, any damage to the aura will affect the chakras and
any damage to the chakras will affect the aura.
THE FUNCTIONS OF THE AURA
The aura as a whole has a number of functions and these are:
• Detection & Protection
• Absorption
• Reaction
DETECTION & PROTECTION
The aura acts as an early warning system for the individual. Each
second up to 400 billion bits of information are detected and sent
to the brain for processing, however, we are only aware of a
fraction of these. The aura works as a tool of detection and
protection. If our aura detects that we are in danger this
information passes through the aura to the physical body where
the information is processed via the brain so that we can act
accordingly.
This is how we are able to detect danger. If we begin to feel
uncomfortable when someone is behind us whilst walking down a
street, it is our aura telling us that there may be in a potentially
dangerous situation ahead if we do not act quickly.
ABSORPTION
Out of the 400 billion bits of information that are detected by our
brains per second, the brain does an amazing job of sorting out
what is relevant and what is not. If we were to consciously process
all of the information that our brain takes in we would simply be
unable to function.
The aura allows the absorption of all of the information that is
taken in via our senses and the information that is considered to
be useful or essential is processed by the brain and we then react
to it
REACTION
Our aura is always working, allowing us to detect and react to the
stimuli all around us and, because of this, we learn to react
according to the situation. When a baby is born it has only two
inborn fears and those are the fear of falling and the fear of loud
noises.
Our fears are there in order to protect us and, as we grow and
develop and pay more attention to our external world, we look at
the world with fresh eyes. Many experiences are new and we react
according to how others around us behave as well as the
information gained from our senses with each new experience
that we encounter.
Our aura allows us to survive in the world. We sense information
which is then processed and assimilated. We learn to react
according to the situation, we learn to fit in, to blend into our
environment and in this way the aura plays an important part in
keeping us safe.
HOW AWARE OF YOUR AURA ARE YOU?
The following section encourages you to think about your own
aura, the energy field that is around each and every one of us.
Many people do not realise that they are receiving messages and
working with the aura all of the time.
The following information is to get you to think about your own
aura and the messages that it sends you during your day to day
activities.
DO YOU EVER FEEL DRAINED OF ENERGY WHEN YOU ARE
AROUND SOME PEOPLE?
It may seem as if they are leeching the energy right out of you. This
may be because either they are feeling low in mood or they are
being negative. When you encounter such a person, they are like
energy vampires, literary draining the life out of you. This happens
because your aura combines with theirs and you are left with the
negative feelings that they had and they walk away feeling much
better when you each go about your own business.
I am sure that at this point you are nodding your head and
thinking that you know someone that leaves you feeling exactly
like that.
Imagine how you feel when you have just walked away after a
conversation with this person. Now amplify that feeling one
hundred times. I bet you are feeling awful.
That is what it feels like after you have encountered a large
number of people who are make you feel drained of energy.
Where would you encounter such a high number of negative
people?
Well, there are generally two ways in which you will encounter a
great number of negative people.
The first is in a city or town. If you either live or work in a city or
town then even if you do not have conversations with a great
number of people you are interacting with them.
If you use public transport you are in close proximity to other
people, connecting with their energy field and sensing their
emotions. When you buy things in a shop you are interacting with
them and connecting with their energy field too.
The second way is at work. If you work with other people you can
sense their feelings and of course you do this via the messages
that you receive from their aura to yours.
If most people are down or fed up, if morale is generally low at
work, then the chances are that you will feel low too. You may feel
great when you are at home but as soon as you walk through
those doors to your workplace you may feel as if your energy has
just dropped through the floor.
DO YOU EVER FEEL THAT SOMEONE IS WATCHING YOU?
Okay, so I believe that this is one that we have ALL experienced.
It could be that you have sensed that someone was watching you
whilst you were sitting on a plane or a train, whilst waiting to be
served in a shop or anywhere else where you are in contact with
other people.
You become aware that another person is watching you because
your aura is sending messages to your brain to let you know this.
Your brain will then assess the information and will let you know if
you need to take any action for your own safety.
This is why if you are walking down a quiet street and someone is
behind you, your aura will detect this sending the information to
your brain and you will either carry on walking as normal or run
for your life!
HAVE YOU EVER TAKEN AN INSTANT LIKE OR DISLIKE TO
SOMEONE?
This is one that some of us would not like to admit. Most of us are
rational people and it simply is not logical to either like or dislike a
person when you first see them even if you have not even met or
spoken to them at this point.
However, this does happen all of the time and we either like or
dislike a person because of the energy that is being sent from their
auric field to ours and this of course happens the other way
around.
The longer that we are with another person the more our energy
field, our auras, combine and exchange energy. So, with each
interaction that we have, a little bit of our energy stays with the
other person and a bit of theirs stays with us.
Have you ever been able to sense how another person feels?
I am sure that most you have been able to sense this too. Simply
knowing that another person wishes to be left alone, that they are
feeling sad or that they wish to have company is often something
that we take for granted. We think that when we are able to sense
how other people feel, that we are simply being sensitive to their
needs. If we were to take a step back and actually ask ourselves
how we have sensed this then most of us would be unable to give
an answer to that question.
Well, the answer is simple. Our aura has combined with their aura
and we have read the information and responded accordingly.
Now you know the functions of the aura and that the aura works
with you each and every day. Let us now take a look at the
individual layers of the aura.
Remember that each person’s aura vibrates at a frequency that is
unique to them. This fact still amazes me and shows how truly
unique and special we really are.
THE ETHERIC BODY
This is the first layer of the aura and is found quite close to the
skin. For this reason some people believe that the etheric body is
the skin and see it as a connecting body between the physical body
and the rest of the aura.
The etheric body contains a blueprint, a map of our physical body
and our DNA. This map contains not only a carbon copy of our
physical structure but information about our history and genetics.
Many people who are unfortunate enough to have experienced an
amputation, frequently report that they can feel that the limb is
still present and this is because the limb is still present in the
etheric body
Just like the Root Chakra, the etheric body is concerned with our
basic needs. The need for food, clothing and shelter is essential for
survival. As well as these essentials it is important to have regular
contact with other human beings. We are all sensory beings and
we need to interact with others, to exchange and balance our
energy in order to survive.
If there is a breakdown in any of our close interpersonal
relationships this can be detected in the etheric body as well as the
physical body. Damage can occur to the etheric layer of the aura
and physical symptoms can manifest such as those related to a
person’s mental health like anxiety and depression. Skin problems
such as eczema occur when the bridge between the etheric layer
and the physical body has been disrupted by negative thoughts
and energy.
THE EMOTIONAL BODY
This is the second layer of the aura and is concerned with our
emotional state. In some ways the emotional body is the purest of
all of the layers of the aura and this is because the emotional body
is concerned with our feelings.
Our feelings are transferred into thoughts and then our conscious
mind works through our feelings and we react accordingly. The
emotional body is connected with the Sacral Chakra.
The way that we feel is important to our health. Most people are
aware of the connection between the body and the mind. Perhaps
less of us are aware that our feelings can also affect our health.
When things are going well for us our energy flows through the
aura and through our physical body. When that energy is affected
by suppressed feelings, such as anger or grief, the energy can
become blocked. If there is something on our mind we often feel
different. We feel disconnected and often activities that we used to
carry out easily and quickly take longer and life becomes harder.
If we have too many repressed feelings damage occurs within the
emotional body of the aura. Damage to the emotional body that
has taken place during a past life is also still present, stuck in the
emotional body. This is why specific things or places can cause an
unusual emotional reaction from within any of us. If the damage
becomes too great the emotional body will begin to break down
and the individual will find it hard to regulate their emotions,
therefore many illnesses associated with mental health and
emotional well-being originate in the emotional body.
THE MENTAL BODY
The mental body connects with the Solar Plexus Chakra and this
auric layer appears as light yellow in colour to those who can see
the colours of the aura. The mental body digests, metabolises and
contains information related to all of our experiences from both
our past and current lives and this is an ongoing, flowing process.
Each of our cells contains its own intelligence, and when the
mental body expands outwards and connects with other people’s
mental body, intelligence is shared on a spiritual level.
THE ASTRAL BODY
The astral body is connected to the Heart Chakra and this is where
both the physical body and the aura meet.
A silver cord connecting the astral body can be found at the navel
with the purpose of the cord being to keep the person grounded,
connected to the earth. During astral projection the astral body is
able to fly through space and time. The astral cord is infinitely long
and very strong and will not break.
There are many stories of astral projection; some involve the
individual simply flying through time and space. There are other
stories that are told by people who have had experiences where
they have met spirit guides, angels and ancestors and actually had
conversations with them. There are others who have conversed
with other people in the family home whilst their physical form has
still been asleep.
THE ETHERIC TEMPLATE
This layer of the aura is associated with the Throat Chakra and is
concerned with our ability to communicate, both on this plane and
in other dimensions. The etheric body receives messages,
guidance from other sources along with our own sense of inner
guidance, messages from within.
Often we are not aware if the messages that we receive are from
some part of ourselves or from another source. Often the
guidance we receive seems to be so different from how we
normally think that it appears to be completely alien to us and this
is when our messages have derived from other dimensions.
The etheric template is a carbon copy of the physical body in
spiritual form. When a person receives healing, much of the work
is carried out in this layer of the aura and the effects are
transferred to the physical body.
THE INTUITIVE OR CELESTIAL BODY
This layer of the aura is made up of many fibres of light and is so
bright that many people find it difficult to see it with the naked eye.
The intuitive body is associated with the Third Eye or Brow Chakra
and is concerned with our spiritual development.
A halo often appears around the head of a spiritually advanced
person. This halo is the intuitive body. Interestingly, many saints
and holy people have historically been drawn with halos around
their heads.
As our individual search for our own purpose in life progresses the
celestial body becomes stronger, thereby leaving us feeling more
spiritually aware. This layer of the aura vibrates quite quickly and,
when we become spiritually enlightened, we are able to access the
higher dimensions of consciousness with very little effort. When
we do this, when we tap into the Universal consciousness, we
become wiser than our years and wiser than our life experiences
allow.
THE CAUSAL BODY
This layer which is associated with the Crown Chakra has an egg-
like shape and is the furthest in distance from the human body of
all of the layers of the aura. Comprised of very rapid vibrations, the
purpose of the causal body is to act as a support mechanism to
the human form.
The causal body is strongly built and records all that the person
thinks and does in their lives. In this way the causal body acts as a
bank, storing all of the individual’s life experiences, both good and
bad. The lessons that we have learnt, as well as the lessons that we
need to learn in order for the soul to develop further and connect
with the Divine, are all stored in the outer layer of this part of the
aura.
Now that you have some understanding of what the aura is, it is
time for you to experience it.
Chapter 2: Experiencing the Aura
In order to see the aura you truly have to believe that it exists.
As you are reading this book it may seem obvious that you
believe in the aura; however, your upbringing as well as your
religious and spiritual beliefs can, on a subconscious level, affect
your ability to see the aura.
For those of you who may be a little sceptical regarding the
existence of the aura, it’s worth remembering that ancient pictures
of religious figures were often drawn with a halo of gold or white
around the head. The halo around the head, and at times the body
itself represented the aura. An aura of gold or white represents a
spiritually advanced person, one who connects with the Divine and
the higher realms of consciousness.
You do not have to look at ancient pictures or documents in order
to see the aura. If you take the time to look at pictures drawn by
young children you will often see that they draw colours around
the people and animals in the drawings. These pictures show the
aura.
During this section you are going to experience the aura by feeling
it. You will also have the opportunity to examine and feel the
chakras. It is important to be able to feel the aura and the chakras
too because when you feel something it becomes real to you.
Below are a number of exercises for you to carry out. Please work
through them all in order so that you build up your sensitivity to
feeling the aura. You may carry out these exercises as many times
as you wish.
Read each exercise through a couple of times before you carry it
out. This is so that you do not break your concentration by having
to refer back to this book.
With each exercise carry out the following 3 steps:
STEP 1: RELAX
The energy from the aura is subtle, gentle and possibly difficult to
feel if you are not used to energy work. In order to be able to
connect with and feel this energy you need to be in a relaxed and
calm state of mind.
In order to relax, ensure that you find a quiet place where you will
not be disturbed. Turn off your mobile phone and try to distance
yourself from any electronic devices, as the energy from these will
affect your energy field.
In order to facilitate feelings of relaxation you may choose to play
some soft, gentle healing music, or light a candle.
When you are ready, close your eyes and sit quietly for a few
minutes. Sitting with your eyes closed will help you focus internally
and this allows you to become more aware of your body.
STEP 2: THE EXERCISE
Carry out each exercise as detailed below.
Only carry out one exercise at each sitting. A good tip to remember
is to remain relaxed and try not to force any feelings or
experiences to happen. Just accept what you feel and do not
analyse it as you will be given time to make a note of your
experiences in step 3.
At the end of the exercise take a few minutes to sit quietly and
when you are ready allow your thoughts to return to the present
moment.
STEP 3: ASSESS
Ensure that you have a notebook and pen ready so that you can
write down what you have experienced. Having your thoughts and
experiences in writing allows you to reflect and monitor your
progress.
THE EXERCISES
As a gentle reminder, remember to carry out step 1 as noted
above. The single most critical factor in your ability to feel and
ultimately see the aura is to make sure that you are relaxed before
carrying out all of the exercises.
Your hands are very sensitive to touch as there are chakras, energy
points, in the hands. With practice you will be able to feel changes
and variations in the aura.
It is important to remember throughout all of the exercises to hold
your fingers closely together. This is because if you hold the fingers
apart you are going to disperse the energy and reduce your ability
to feel the aura.
Exercise 1
In this exercise you will practice creating an energy ball.
Begin by rubbing your hands together for a count of 10
Now, hold your hands roughly ten inches apart.
Slowly move your hands closer together until they are about 2
inches apart.
Move your hands gently back and forth an inch or two, three or
four times. The action should resemble playing with a little ball in
your hands.
Move your hands roughly ten inches apart again and repeat the
exercise.
Tip: Focus on feeling the energy and if you can feel any different
sensations when the hands are closer together compared to when
the hands are further apart.
Now assess your experience.
Exercise 2
Rub your hands together for a count of 10.
Now place your hands an inch or two over the thighs, palms down.
Stay in this position for two to three minutes.
Tip: You may wish to position cushions under your elbows as this
will help to support your back.
Do you feel any heat in the thigh area or anywhere else? What
other sensations can you feel?
When you have completed the exercise, shake your hands from
side to side a few times as they may feel a little bit stiff.
Now assess your experience.
Exercise 3
Rub your hands together for a count of 10.
In this exercise you are going to feel your own aura around your
head and your arm.
Position your right hand around 3 to 4 inches from the crown of
your head.
Trace the outline of your body from the crown of the head down
the left arm all the way to the tips of the fingers.
Repeat the process.
Now, work on the opposite side of the body by using the left hand
to trace down the right side of the body from the crown to the
fingertips.
Repeat the process.
Tip: As your trace the outline of your body remember to carry out
the action SLOWLY. Remember to make a mental note of any
sensations or anything that feels different. For example you may
feel that there are some areas that are warmer than the rest.
Now assess your experience.
In the next section you are going to experience the energy
field of a plant or an animal.
Exercise 4
The technique is the same for either an animal or a plant.
Make sure that you are in a quiet location where you will not be
disturbed. This is important because when you first begin to work
with the aura you are going to be very uncertain as to what you are
feeling or experiencing. Often the sensations are very subtle and, if
you are not giving the exercise your full attention, you are likely to
miss the experience.
Once again, rub your hands together for a count of 10.
Position your hands 3 to 4 inches above the head of the animal or
the top of the plant.
Trace the outline of the body all the way around so that you end
up at your starting position.
Remember to keep your hands at a distance of 3 to 4 inches away
from the body throughout the entire process.
Rub your hands together to disconnect from the process.
Now assess your experience.
Tip: If you are attempting to experience the aura of an animal, it is
important to realise that animals are very sensitive to changes in
the energy field. Some animals may enjoy the experience but
others will not. Animals that dislike the exercise are likely to move
away from you, or even leave the room. If this happens,
discontinue the exercise and either attempt this exercise again at a
later stage or work with another animal.
Now assess your experience.
In the next exercise you are going to experience the aura of
another person.
Exercise 5
Ask a person to sit comfortably on a chair in a quiet location and
close their eyes.
Begin by rubbing your hands together for a count of 10 then,
standing directly behind the person, place your hands 3 to 4 inches
above the crown of the person’s head.
Now trace the outline of the person’s body by working all the way
down one side of the body and then up the other side.
Tip: It is a good practice to inform the person of what you are
going to do. This allows them to relax and to feel comfortable with
closing their eyes.
Now make a note of both your experiences.
Exercise 6
When you carry out this exercise you will experience a person’s
aura as they lie on a bed or a couch.
Remember to read through the exercise fully, just as you have with
the other exercises, so that you know what you are going to do
and so that you can inform your volunteer of the process.
Ask your volunteer to close their eyes and begin by standing to one
side of them.
After rubbing your hands together for the count of 10, place your
hands around 3 to 4 inches above the side of the head and trace
the outline of the body in the same way as you have done in the
previous exercise.
If you are working with a volunteer lying on a bed, you will need to
stretch across the bed in order to follow the outline of the body so
that you can complete the exercise. This is not ideal; however, I do
understand that most of the people reading this book may not be
therapists and do not have a couch readily available.
Tip: As you work around the body ensure that you maintain your
focus which should be on simply feeling the aura.
Now assess your experience and ask the volunteer to state what
he or she felt.
THE PURPOSE OF THE ABOVE EXERCISES
You have worked through the above exercises in a systematic way
so that you have had the opportunity to experience your own aura,
that of a plant or animal (or both) and that of another human
being. I hope that you have had the opportunity to experience
more than one person’s aura if at all possible. The reason that I
listed an exercise with your volunteer(s) sitting as well as lying
down is so that you have the opportunity to examine the aura
from two different perspectives; the volunteer also has the chance
to relax more fully and this is when they are likely to report feeling
something.
Below are the feelings that are most often reported when the
aura is examined.
FEELINGS EXPERIENCED BY THE PRACTITIONER
Note: the feelings experienced by the practitioner are dependent
on the sensitivity of the practitioner’s hands. Some individuals are
naturally more sensitive and intuitively gifted than others. Other
practitioners may already be therapists working in the healing arts
and are simply reading this book in order to be able to see auras.
Those who work in the healing arts are highly likely to have hands
which are sensitive to the potentially different sensations that the
aura can have, compared to those of you who are just starting out.
When you do feel sensations in your hands when you examine an
aura, and this will come with practice, you are going to feel more of
whatever you are feeling in one hand than the other. Each of us
may have one hand that is slightly more sensitive and this is
usually your dominant hand, but this is not always so.
As with all of the exercises in this book, practice increases the
sensitivity in your hands so that the more practice you get the
more of the aura you will feel. These exercises will also increase
your intuitive ability, so not only will both of your hands become
more sensitive but your sense of perception will become more
enhanced too.
As a practitioner you are likely to feel:
• Hot or cold areas
• Areas of heaviness
• Light areas
• Emotions – of all kinds
• Feeling that your hands are moving either higher or lower
down towards the body in particular places
• Feelings that your hands want to stay in one particular
position rather than tracing the outline of the body
• Feeling as if you are disconnected from your own body
• Mental pictures or flashes as you connect with the aura and
the information that it contains about the person
• Any other sensations that feel different when your hands are
in one particular area of the body compared to when your
hands are held over other parts of the body
FEELINGS EXPERIENCED BY THE VOLUNTEER
• Knowing exactly where the practitioner is even when the
participant has their eyes closed
• Feeling as if someone is touching them when they are not
• Feeling emotional
• Feeling cold as the aura is disrupted
• Feeling connected to the other person in some way
• Having a particular dislike for the whole process
With that last point, some individuals do not like to have their
energy field disrupted as they feel uncomfortable. This does not
happen very often but if it does, the practitioner should
immediately discontinue what they are doing and offer the
volunteer a glass of water and time to relax and discuss any
feelings that they have had before they leave the room.
Now that you have had a chance to experience the aura in a
variety of ways it is time to examine the chakras:
Exercise 7
Ask the volunteer to lie on a bed or a couch if you have one.
If the volunteer feels the cold, cover their legs.
Standing parallel to the hips, place your hands 3 to 4 inches above
the pubic bone area.
Remember to keep your fingers together, hold your hands in this
position for around a minute.
Move your hands a few inches further up the body to above the
area of the navel and repeat the process.
Now, place your hands in the following areas, repeat the process
as you have learnt it so far:
• The solar plexus area
• The heart
• The throat area
• In between the eyebrows, the area of the Third Eye
• The crown of the head
Now assess your experience and ask the volunteer to state what
they had felt or experienced.
Tip: If your hands become a little stiff you can shake them out or
rub them together a few times as you move from one chakra
location to the next.
The following exercises involve both practitioner and
volunteer participation.
Please remember to carry out steps 1 & 2, relax and read through
the exercise before you begin it.
Exercise 8
In a quiet room, where you will not be disturbed, position two
chairs opposite each other at a distance of roughly one metre or
so.
Now both parties should take a seat.
Both of you rub your hands together around 10 times.
Now, hold your hands out with the palms of your hands towards
each other.
Close your eyes
Stay in this position for around two to three minutes.
Tip: You do not need to time this exactly. You might decide to play
a short track of your favourite relaxation music and maintain your
position for the whole of the track. Establish a method of timing
that works best for you.
Now rub your hands together briskly several times to disconnect
from the other person’s aura.
Note and assess both of your experiences
Exercise 9
In the same seated position as in exercise 8, both volunteer and
practitioner should place their hands in their lap, palms upwards.
For simplicity in understanding this exercise I have called the two
individuals involved person A & Person B. It does not matter which
is the volunteer and which is the practitioner because both will
work through this exercise completely.
Person A is required to close their eyes whilst person B is required
to look at their own hands on their lap.
When person B is ready he or she should gaze directly at the head
and shoulders of person A.
When person A feels a connection, they are simply required to say
stop and open their eyes.
The roles should then be reversed so that both individuals carry
out this experiment.
When you are ready compare experiences.
This exercise is an interesting one as it allows both participants to
feel when someone is looking at them, connecting with their aura.
During our everyday interactions, many of us feel when someone
is looking at us but we simply accept without questioning where
this feeling comes from, or why we are experiencing it.
Tip: This exercise may take one minute or several, depending on
the intuitive ability and sensitivity of the recipient.
Exercise 10
This exercise involves pushing and pulling the aura. Again, in order
to provide a simple explanation I will call the parties involved
person A & person B.
Person A is required to stand facing a wall.
Person B is required to stand behind person A, at a distance of 3 to
4 feet away from them.
Person B should now begin the push and pull exercise.
Holding their hands up so that they are parallel to person A’s back,
person B should push their hands forward as if they are pushing
something away from them, followed by immediately pulling their
hands back towards their body.
This exercise should be repeated several times and should be
carried out at a slow and even pace.
The purpose of this exercise is to push and pull the aura and in
doing so person A should begin to lose balance and sway. This
“shows” that when a person’s aura is disturbed the impact on the
physical body can also be felt.
When person A can feel the movement the exercise can be
stopped and the roles reversed.
Tip: It is possible that the participant does not believe that they are
moving and that their balance is not being affected in any way.
This is because, for some individuals the effect is very subtle. In
such cases, a third party can be introduced into this exercise. The
role of the third party is to observe the balance of the participant.
It is even possible for the third party to video the exercise using
their mobile phone so that “proof” can be given to the participant.
If you are able to carry out this exercise with several participants
then you will be able to compare the responses of all those who
have taken part.
By carrying out all of the above exercises I am sure that you have
been able to experience your own aura, as well as another
person’s aura and that of an animal, a plant or both.
The differences in sensation that you may have noticed are due to
disruptions in the volunteer’s energy field. This can be caused by
past or present illness, dis-ease or stress.
We also store information about our past lives, as well as our
present experiences, in the aura too. This is why we can feel
emotions when we examine the aura and this is also the reason
why the participant can also feel emotions that they have been
holding onto when the aura is disturbed.
The aura can be cleansed and repaired by energy healing practices
such as reiki and crystal healing. Meditation can also help to
cleanse and balance the whole of the energy system.
Now that you can feel the aura, let us begin the process of seeing
it.
Chapter 3: Seeing the Aura
I hope anyone who was sceptical about the existence of the aura
finally believes yes the aura is real! Now we can move on to
actually learning how to see the aura.
There are 2 ways in which this is possible. The first is viewing the
aura with your eyes. The second is seeing the aura with your Third
Eye or inner vision. The Third Eye is also called the Brow Chakra
and this is part of the chakra system.
When we see the aura with our eyes we may feel that this is more
authentic than if we see the aura intuitively. In actual fact, seeing
the aura with our eyes is no different from intuitively seeing the
aura in our mind. The only difference is down to our belief
system. Many people have been taught to only believe what we
can see and, as a consequence, we do not accept what our other
senses are telling or showing us.
In order to understand how our eyes work, here is a little eye
anatomy.
The iris opens and closes the pupil. It does this by acting as a
muscle that regulates the amount of light that is filtered through it.
The pupil lets light into the eye by movement of the iris as it moves
through the lens. The pupil can be adjusted to let more or less light
in. If we are in a bright environment the pupil is small and if we are
in a dark environment the pupil increases in size. If we spend too
long in any particular environment, then move into another
environment with a different level of light, our eyes may need a
little while to adjust when going from one to the other. When this
happens we can feel a bit off balance and have a tendency to
shield our eyes as they may hurt a little bit as the pupil makes the
adjustment of regulating the correct amount of light into the eye.
Light passes through the lens in order to reach the retina, which is
the light sensitive area at the back of the eye. The retina contains
cones and rods. The rods are sensitive to light, black and white and
the cones are sensitive to colour. The translation of light and
colour takes place via signals through the optic nerve to the brain
resulting in us seeing colour and light.
WHAT IS COLOUR BLINDNESS?
Colour blindness, also known as colour vision deficiency, is the
inability to recognise specific colours. Affecting more men than
women the condition mostly occurs due a fault in the X
chromosome; however, some people can develop the disorder due
to the following:
• Diabetes
• Liver disease
• Alzheimer’s disease
• Sickle cell anaemia
• Multiple sclerosis
• Any eye disease
• Exposure to industrial or environment chemicals
• The ageing process
If the cause of colour blindness is not genetic then the process of
developing the condition usually occurs quite slowly.
A person with colour blindness most commonly has problems
detecting red, orange, yellow, brown and green colours. Many also
have problems detecting shades of purple and some may even
have problems differentiating red from black.
If the cones and rods are sufficiently stimulated, then subtle light is
detected. This makes it more likely that the individual is going to
be able to detect variations in shade and colour. Nearly all of us
only use around 20% or less of the cones and rods in our eyes.
Imagine how much we could really see if we were able to increase
this.
PERIPHERAL VISION
Peripheral vision refers to being able to see objects and movement
outside of our direct line of vision. Some people, due to eye
disease such as glaucoma, have a loss of peripheral vision and this
is leads to a condition called tunnel vision which may be present in
one or both eyes.
Our peripheral vision is very important to our health and well-
being. Having a good level of peripheral vision affects our sense of
balance and helps us to reduce stress. The level of agility and good
balance is especially important to the elderly who may be at risk of
falls. Interestingly, dementia sufferers are often found to have
poor peripheral vision.
EXERCISES TO HELP YOU SEE THE AURA
The following exercises should be carried out two to three times a
day for three to four weeks.
By carrying out these exercises, as well as increasing your ability to
see the aura you will also be helping to improve your eyesight. Too
many of us spend a lot of time in front of a computer or on our
phones, so we stare at one space for too long and this can damage
our eyes and reduce our vision.
Each exercise only takes a few minutes and your commitment to
following through with these exercises will be rewarded when you
say yes, I can see the aura.
Exercise 1
This is a very simple exercise, something that I am sure you have
done when you were a child, or when you have been feeling very
tired.
Very gently rub your eyes for a few seconds and then open your
eyes.
What can you see?
Most people can see blobs of colour, stars or white or silver lines
or streaks.
Now repeat this exercise once more.
Tip: Make sure that you remove any contact lenses or make up
that you are wearing. Do not carry out this exercise if you have an
eye infection, fear that you may have an eye infection, or have an
eye disease.
Exercise 2
Place an object such as a book around 6 inches away from you on
a table.
Now place another object around 6 feet away from you.
Look at the object nearest to you whilst counting to 5 in your head.
Now look at the object furthest away from you whilst counting to
five in your head.
Repeat the process 2 more times.
Now, look at the object closest to you for a count of 3, followed by
the object furthest away from you for a count of 3.
Repeat the process 2 more times and do so quite quickly.
Exercise 3
This is a great exercise for using and improving your peripheral
vision and involves the help of another person.
Sit comfortably on a chair, making sure that there is enough space
for your helper to stand behind you then ask them to do so.
Ask your helper to move slightly into and out of your peripheral
vision.
If the exercise is being carried out correctly, you should see a slight
movement out of the corner of your eye as your helper moves
slightly backwards and forwards.
If you do not have someone to help you it is still possible for you to
carry out an exercise in order to improve your peripheral vision.
Position an object on a table or shelf, anywhere which is at eye
level. Now position yourself so that you can see the object out of
the corner of your eye.
Now, look at the object out of the corner of your eye.
Next, look straight ahead.
Repeat the process twice more. This is a great way of improving
your peripheral vision.
If you have a helper please carry out the following exercise:
Ask your helper to stand, as they have previously done, slightly
behind you whilst you sit in your chair.
Now, ask your helper to wave their fingers so that you can see the
action out of the corner of your eye.
Ask your helper to do this intermittently for one to two minutes.
Exercise 4
This is a great all round exercise for the whole of the eye.
Using a sheet of A4 white paper, draw a large figure of 8.
Now, hold the paper in a vertical position.
Trace a complete outline of the number with your eyes so that you
finish where you started.
Now hold the sheet of paper in a horizontal position and repeat
the process.
Repeat the whole exercise twice more.
Exercise 5
Below is a spiral eyechart, when you carry out the exercise as
described below you will discover that this is great way to
strengthen the muscles of the iris.
Position the spiral eyechart so that it sits parallel to your line of
vision.
Now look at the eyechart with both eyes and without glasses if you
wear them.
Look at the centre point of the spiral eyechart.
As you focus on this middle point it will seem as if your eyes are
focusing on a point quite far away, within a deep tunnel.
Now, draw that centre point in towards you.
Remember to blink when you need to and once again, imagine
that the centre point is far away, it should feel as if your eyes are
looking down a tunnel at an end point.
When you are ready, draw the end point towards you
Repeat this exercise twice more. You might want to turn your focus
away from the spiral for a few moments, blink and repeat the
exercise when you are ready. This will help you focus if you find
that your eyes are getting a bit tired, as the muscles in your eyes
will be working quite hard and not used to this specific exercise.
THE FOLLOWING EXERCISES SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT IN A
DIMLY LIT ROOM AS THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO SEE THE AURA.
Exercise 6
For this exercise you are going to need a sheet of white A4 paper.
Place the sheet of paper on a table or desk.
Position your hand on top of the paper and part your fingers
slightly.
Relax your hand and your whole body.
Intensely focus on the centre of your hand for around 30 seconds
(you might want to count to 30 silently in your head).
Now, allow your eyes to circle the outline of your hand three times.
This process stimulates the eyes.
When you are ready, soften your gaze and look at the fingertips.
Your gaze should include the fingers themselves.
Tip: Try not to stare too hard! When you need to blink do so. This
may appear to be a little frustrating at first because you will find
that when you blink you will lose your connection to what you have
seen. This will improve with practice, so that you will be able to
blink gently and after a second or two you will be able to see the
aura again.
What can I expect to see?
With a little practice you will begin to see a fine golden mist around
the fingers and out of the fingertips. When you achieve this, keep
that soft focus with your eyes, move your fingers gently back and
forth, closing them together and then opening them. This should
be carried out on the white paper and repeated twice more.
With practice you will discover that you are able to see colours.
These may appear to be fleeting and subtle at first but, with time
and practice, you will be able to see the whole of the aura of the
hand with its amazing colours.
Tip: One of the biggest mistakes that people make when they
actually see the aura is to get too excited about it! Yes I know, this
is easier said than done because the aura is an amazing thing and
being able to see it is amazing too. When you do see the aura just
try and accept what you are seeing and then carry on gazing at it
because, as you do so, you will see the colour quite vividly and
possibly different colours blending in and out of the aura too.
If you are a reiki practitioner, or a healer trained in one of the
other healing arts, you might find that you are able to see this
basic outline of the aura of your hand after you have carried out a
healing treatment. As you progress, you may see the whole of the
aura and possibly a number of colours within it, depending on the
person whose aura you are viewing.
Exercise 7
For this exercise you will need a volunteer.
Using a dimly lit room, one preferably with a blank white or light
coloured wall as a background, ask your volunteer to sit on a chair
facing you.
Position yourself sitting in a chair opposite your volunteer, about a
couple of feet away from them.
Ask your volunteer to close their eyes. This is so that you can focus
on them fully without being distracted.
It is a good idea to tell your volunteer that you will let them know
the outcome of the exercise when you have finished and that you
will let them know when they can open their eyes. You may also
wish to tell your volunteer that they may feel you staring at them
and if they do feel this that it is nothing to worry about, it is simply
you focusing on seeing the aura. By letting your volunteer know
what is going to happen, you are reducing the likelihood that you
will be disturbed by them asking questions when you carry out the
exercise.
When you are ready, trace the outline of your volunteer’s body
with your eyes. This is to help you stimulate your eye muscles.
The next step is to focus your attention on the Third Eye. If you do
not know where this is or if you are uncertain, this is point
between the eyebrows.
Hold your attention in this position for a slow and silent count of
30.
Now, expand what you are looking at to take in the whole of the
head, neck and shoulders. This is where you often get a really good
picture of the aura. Keep your eyes in this position for a silent
count of 30.
Repeat the whole process twice more.
With time you can expand your focus to take in the whole of the
body.
Just as with the eye exercises seeing the aura take practice. Some
people will be able to see the aura after just a few attempts which,
although unusual, is not unheard of. Others will find that they
need to practice for several weeks, or even months, before they
even begin to see the outline of the aura. Your determination will
pay off and when you finally do see the aura you will feel a great
sense of accomplishment.
When you are at the stage where you can see the colours of the
aura, your next step is to be able to understand what these colours
mean.
Chapter 4: The colours of the aura
Each of us is a lot more sensitive to colour than we may at first
believe. We are drawn to certain colours intuitively and there are
also colours that we would never imagine wearing or having in our
homes. Colour is everywhere and each colour has its own specific
wavelength so that when light is broken down into that wavelength
we are able to see that colour.
There are seven colours in a rainbow and there are seven major
chakras. They both have the same colours and these are: red,
orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. There are lots of
other shades and tones in between these colours. As you develop
your sensitivity to colour you will be able to see the many shades
and tones of these colours within the aura too.
When you first begin to see colour in the aura, it is likely that you
are only able to see those colours which are positioned closest to
the body. Those colours reflect the condition of the person’s
physical health. Colours which are detected further away indicate
the emotional and spiritual aspect of the individual. Lighter and
clearer colours indicate good health in the individual.
Aura photography can be used to show a visual image of an aura.
An aura photograph will typically show an image of the head and
shoulders of an individual however, some aura images do show
the complete aura by photographing the whole body.
It is common for an aura photograph to contain two or three
different colours. Some of which may be blended into each other
with some appearing to be lighter or darker in shade or tone
compared to the rest of the colour.
When you reach this stage, without the use of aura photography,
well done!
You are really seeing the aura in all of its beautiful colours. By now
you are probably thinking, what do these colours mean? Below I
have listed a description of the colours of the aura along with their
meaning.
Tip: When you first begin to notice the colours of the aura it is
highly likely that you will try and analyse them as you see them. Try
not to do this, just accept what you see and also what you feel. You
may receive messages from your higher self, your intuition, when
you see the aura. This is because when you are in a relaxed state
of mind, all of your senses become enhanced.
THE COLOURS OF THE AURA & THEIR MEANING
Red
This is the colour connected to the Root Chakra which is found at
the base of the spine.
Red is the colour of heat, of energy and vitality and of the will to
live and succeed. The colour red within the Root Chakra relates to
the basic needs that we have in order to survive; these needs are
concerned with food, clothing and adequate shelter.
Orange
Within the chakra system the colour orange is connected to our
Sacral Chakra and represents our ability to give and receive
pleasure in life. The pleasure principle encompasses all aspects of
our lives from simply enjoying ourselves and socialising with family
and friends to sexual pleasure.
Orange is the colour of creativity, of joy and of new beginnings
which could indicate anything from a new job, new home or
different outlook in life.
Yellow
This is the colour of the Solar Plexus Chakra, the area just below
the ribcage.
Yellow is often the colour that we are able to see when we initially
begin to view the auric field. It is the colour of hope, joy, of a
thinking and active mind. Yellow is an uplifting colour which is
often seen in the aura of academics.
Green
This is the colour which is associated with the Heart Chakra. The
heart is an area of the body that often requires healing. Often we
can analyse why we have been hurt by a person or an event, but
we still feel that pain in the heart because emotionally we have not
healed.
Green is also the colour associated with healers and when green is
seen in the aura it indicates a person who is compassionate, kind
and strong. It also shows that the person is likely to be able to heal
others on a spiritual level.
Blue
This is the colour associated with the Throat Chakra. Blue is seen
to be the colour of communication and our ability to verbally
interact with others.
The colour blue in the aura reflects one who has a calm and gentle
nature, preferring stillness and tranquillity in their lives rather than
lots of activity and noise. Blue also indicates a person who is highly
sensitive and of a psychic nature.
Indigo & violet
These two colours are grouped together as they are often hard to
differentiate when viewing the aura.
Indigo represents the Brow Chakra, or Third Eye, and is related to
our intuitive ability and our insight into the future. The colour
violet is related to the Crown Chakra and this is concerned with
our higher consciousness and our spirituality.
The colours of indigo and violet represents inner strength or will
power, spirituality, compassion, harmony and humanity.
As you become increasingly able to see the aura you will notice
that there are often variations in shades and tones. Below I have
listed the variations that you are likely to see along with their
meanings:
• Deep red: someone who is grounded, strong willpower,
survival oriented, indicates one who has a healthy Root
Chakra.
• Muddy red: someone who is feeling angry.
• Clear red: someone who is feeling full of life and energy.
• Clear orange: someone who is feeling creative, strong, has
willpower and the ability to see a project through.
• Orange-yellow: a person who is feeling analytical.
• Clear yellow: a person who is looking for fun; they feel playful,
analytical and a good communicator.
• Vivid green: loves nature, is looking to grow in many aspects
of their life, someone who is feeling love.
• Dark green: someone who is feeling jealousy, low self-
esteem, resentment, insular.
• Blue: cool, calm, sensitive, expressive, a good communicator.
• Dark blue: fear of self-expression on all levels.
• Indigo: intuitive, visionary, clear minded, well balanced.
• Violet: visionary, divine wisdom, enlightenment, calm and
wise.
• Pink: one who loves nature, animals and the Universe.
• Dark pink: childish, immature.
• Clear gold: someone who is spiritually enlightened
• Silver: abundance on all levels, financially and spiritually.
• Dark blue to black: residual fear, past fears and emotions not
dealt with, ill health.
• Dark grey: blocked energy, tiredness, fearful.
• Brown: holding onto negative energy.
• Rainbow of colours: from hands or head – a healer.
• White: pure, angelic in nature, spiritual, at peace.
As you can now see, it is possible to observe an aura that requires
the energy within it to be healed and balanced. The following
lesson will show you how to do just that.
Chapter 5: Healing the Aura
Imagine that you have seen, or sensed in some way, that a
person whose aura you have examined needs healing. How are
you going to help that person heal? Well, look no further
because this chapter is dedicated to showing you how to search
for areas of the aura that are imbalanced and how you can
facilitate the healing process. You will also learn how you can
heal yourself by carrying out specific meditations.
THE PENDULUM
You may already be familiar with the concept of dowsing. Perhaps
you have also had the opportunity to dowse for things such as
water or lost items using a dowsing rod.
The reason that people dowse is to search for something.
However, it is fair to point out that rods and pendulums do not
contain magical properties which can lead one to discover a lost
item.
Now you may be thinking: if that is the case, then why use a
dowsing rod or a pendulum?
Well, when we hold a pendulum or a rod we connect with our
spiritual selves. When we ask a pendulum a question we are really
using our intuition and our connection to our higher self. We also
develop a connection to the Universe and to Universal
Consciousness in order to obtain an answer. The answer that we
receive is one which we already know but are not necessarily
consciously aware of. The rotation of the pendulum verifies this for
us.
The rod or pendulum is simply a means by which we become
aware of the answer to our question.
Therefore, a person who is highly intuitive will be able to receive an
answer to a question simply by asking themselves the question.
The problem that most people have is that not everyone is able to
do this, or feels confident in their ability to do it.
Of course, in order to work with a pendulum one needs to have
one readily available!
Pendulums can be purchased from a variety of sources, including
specialist shops and online retailers.
When you buy a pendulum choose one which you are drawn to.
You may prefer a clear quartz pendulum to begin with, or perhaps
pink quartz or amethyst.
Hold the pendulum in your dominant hand. Ask yourself if it feels
right and if you are comfortable with it.
If your answer is yes it feels right and you feel a connection to it,
then yes this is the pendulum for you. If something is not quite
right then try another and another until you do find the one which
is right for you.
Once you have purchased your pendulum and taken it home, it is
now time to cleanse it.
You may choose to cleanse your pendulum using any of the
methods noted below. A deep cleanse of several hours is required
when you purchase your pendulum. For subsequent cleanses, a 2
hour cleansing period is appropriate
1. Sunshine
2. Under a full moon
3. Buried in the earth
4. In free flowing water such as a shallow stream
5. Reiki healing, if trained in this area (for further information
about Reiki training courses visit britishacademyofreiki.co.uk)
USING A PENDULUM
When you hold a pendulum you must ensure that you are feeling
relaxed and calm as you do not want your personal emotions, as
far as possible, to affect the answers that you receive.
When you use a pendulum you will need to keep the questions
simple and specific. This allows the pendulum to give either a ‘yes’
or a ‘no’ answer.
There are times when a pendulum does not know and will give a
‘maybe’ answer where it simply swings from side to side, but this
should not happen very often.
To begin with, ask the pendulum something that you know is true
such as:
“Is my name (.............)?” State your correct name and ask the
pendulum to respond.
The pendulum will begin to rotate in one direction, often slowly at
first and then it will increase both in the speed and the size of the
circles that it makes.
Now repeat the question so that you are certain of the direction
that the pendulum responds with in order to give a ‘yes’ answer.
Note: If the pendulum rotates in a different direction or swings
from side to side then repeat the question for a third time. Take
the answer as the direction in which the pendulum rotates on 2
out of 3 occasions.
You have now discovered which way the pendulum responds in
order to give a positive ‘yes’ answer.
Now, ask the pendulum another question
This time ask a question which will result in a ‘no’ answer, such as
asking the pendulum if you are a specific age which is incorrect.
The pendulum should then begin to rotate in the opposite
direction.
Repeat the exercise so that you have carried the exercise out 3
times in total.
Now ask the pendulum a question that is impossible to answer
such as:
“What are the winning lottery numbers for this week’s draw?”
This is when the pendulum is most likely to respond by moving
from side to side.
Congratulations.
You have now discovered how to use your pendulum.
You are now ready to begin to heal the aura.
HEALING THE AURA
For this exercise you will need a pendulum plus either a crystal
wand or a smudge stick.
A note on crystal wands
Crystal wands can be used to heal the aura, as well as for massage
and for healing a localised area of the body. Crystal wands should
be selected and cleansed in the same way that pendulums are.
It is especially important to be able to hold your chosen wand in
your dominant hand and to be able to move it freely so that you
can carry out your healing work.
Whichever type and length of wand you choose remember that the
wand, as well as having its own vibrational frequency, is an
extension of yourself and your energy field. This is because you
transmit healing energy down your arm, into your hand, through
your finger tips and out to the wand as you carry out your work.
Smudge sticks
Smudging is a Native American cleansing practice which helps to
remove negative energy. A smudge stick is often a bundle of white
sage, or a combination of other cleansing herbs. Once lit the
bundle can produce a lot of smoke so ensure that you have
adequate ventilation and that your volunteer does not have any
respiratory problems.
You may choose to cleanse the aura using either a smudge stick or
a crystal wand, both are equally effective.
NOW YOU ARE READY TO BEGIN YOUR TREATMENT.
Your volunteer should be positioned lying on their back on a bed
or a couch. Ask your volunteer to close their eyes and relax.
You may choose to use a light blanket to cover them as this will
make your volunteer feel more comfortable and keep them warm.
Healing work can leave a person feeling cold at times as there is a
disruption in the energy field.
The blanket will not interfere with the treatment in any way.
You may decide to light a candle and you may wish to play some
healing music softly in the background if the volunteer is agreeable
to this.
Stand at the bottom of the couch on the right hand side.
NOW GROUND YOURSELF.
Feel your feet connected to the ground and feel a connection with
the earth. Now relax your mind and focus on the volunteer.
Next, take your pendulum in your dominant hand.
Stand at a distance of roughly 12 inches from the couch close to
the volunteer’s right foot and silently ask the following question:
“Does (use the person’s name) aura need healing in this area?”
Make a mental note of the pendulums response.
Repeat this exercise by positioning yourself at the same distance
parallel to the:
• Knees
• Top of the hips
• Half way up the torso
• Shoulders
• Crown of the head
Then repeat the exercise by working from the crown down to the
feet, on the other side of the couch, so that you will have
completed a full circle of the body by the time you are at the
bottom of the couch.
Use your pendulum to check on the health of the aura in the
following positions:
The purpose of the above exercise is to establish if there are any
areas of the auric field that need to be healed. The aura can
develop damage in a number of ways; below are the major ways
that damage can occur:
• As a result of long term use of medication
• Trauma to the physical body
• Geopathic stress
• Unresolved psychological problems
• Intentional psychic attack
• From another person who acts as an energy vampire and
drains the energy from someone else
Damage to the aura can leave the aura with:
• Holes
• Gaps
• Thin areas which if left untreated will become holes
• Thickened areas: these may contain stored and unresolved
emotional issues
If damage to the aura is caused by emotional problems, and the
problems are not dealt with, then the trauma will keep
reappearing. This may happen throughout the whole of a person’s
life and this is the reason why some people keep making the same
mistakes over and over again throughout their lives. This is called
karmic patterning.
THE NEXT STAGE IN THE PROCESS IS TO REMOVE BLOCKAGES IN
THE AURIC FIELD
Starting at the crown of the head…
Hold your crystal wand 3 to 4 inches away from the crown of the
head.
Begin by making small circles in a clockwise direction and continue
this process by following the outline of the body all the way down
one side.
Continue across the feet and up the other side of the body until
you have reached the same place that you started.
THE NEXT STEP IS TO CLEANSE THE AURA.
Stand at the top of the couch and begin to cleanse the aura by
sweeping down the outline of the body with the wand.
Work all the way down from the top of the head to the bottom of
the feet.
Your movement should be even and consistent throughout and
your thoughts should be focused on cleansing the aura.
When you have completed one single sweep from head to feet,
shake the crystal a couple of times with the tip pointing towards
the ground so that you can ground any excess or negative energy.
Repeat the process twice more.
Now, repeat the entire process on the other side of the body.
Well done, you have now cleansed the aura!
CHECK ON THE HEALTH OF THE CHAKRAS.
For this section you will need your pendulum.
Begin by standing facing the volunteer’s hips.
Once again ground yourself so that you feel calm and relaxed.
When you are ready, place your pendulum 3 to 4 inches above the
Root Chakra and silently ask yourself if the chakra is balanced.
Steady your pendulum then repeat the question if you feel
uncertain about the pendulums response.
Now, work through all of the major chakras.
As you do so, make a mental note of which chakras (if any) require
balancing.
Following the Root Chakra check the health of:
• The Sacral Chakra
• The Solar Plexus Chakra
• The Heart Chakra
• The Throat Chakra
• The Brow Chakra
• The Crown Chakra
Tip: You should hold the pendulum in a slightly higher position
when working from the Throat Chakra upwards so that the
pendulum does not come into contact with the client’s face when it
is rotating.
You will now have a clear picture of which chakras require
balancing.
It is important to check on the health of the chakras as well as the
health of the aura when carrying out a healing treatment on the
aura.
The aura and the chakras are both part of the subtle energy
system and, given time, the health of one affects the health of the
other.
METHODS TO BALANCE THE CHAKRAS
Crystal Healing
Crystals have been used for thousands of years to cleanse and
balance the energy system.
Each crystal has its very own vibration. When placed on the body a
crystal will transmit its own vibrational frequency.
When combined with the vibrational frequency of the person
being treated, the result is an overall raised degree of vibration
which facilitates healing.
A person who is ill, or someone who has a blocked chakra or
damage to the aura (or both), will have a body which transmits a
low vibrational frequency.
When you raise your vibrations you are raising your ability to heal.
Follow the steps below to carry out a crystal healing
treatment
Begin by placing crystals over the major chakras.
Here are my suggested crystals for the major chakras. If you buy a
chakra pack it is likely that you will be using different ones to the
ones named below. The crystals in the chakra pack will be equally
as effective at healing as the ones noted below:
• Root Chakra:bloodstone
• Sacral Chakra: orange carnelian
• Solar Plexus Chakra: amber
• Heart Chakra: pink quartz
• Throat Chakra: aquamarine
• Brow Chakra: black opal
• Crown Chakra: amethyst
Always remember to cleanse the crystals before using them.
Cleanse your crystals in the same way that you cleansed your
pendulum and crystal wand.
Tip: Let your volunteer know just before you apply the crystals to
their body. This is because they might suddenly be startled if you
begin to place your crystals on their body and they were not
expecting this to happen.
Treatment time
Crystal healing can be powerful and the effects are often felt some
time after the treatment has ended.
The crystals should be in place for no longer than 30 minutes for
the first session.
During subsequent sessions the treatment time can be increased
by 5 minutes per session, up to a maximum treatment time of 50
minutes if the volunteer is comfortable with this.
Inform your volunteer before you remove the crystals, again so
that they are not startled.
Once the crystals have been removed carry out the aura sweeping
action as you have learnt previously.
Why do I need to do this again?
It is important to carry out this action again because, when you
carried out the cleansing and healing work on the chakras, you will
have released negative energy which may have become trapped in
the aura. By carrying out the sweeping action you are removing
the negative energy away from the body and grounding it.
You can now repeat the process of checking the chakras to see
how much healing work has taken place. Carry out the exercise
with the pendulum as you have been previously taught.
Once the above has been completed the treatment has now
ended.
CHAKRA COLOUR THERAPY
The purpose of this treatment is to use chakra colour swatches
and place them over the chakras. Each colour has its own
vibrational frequency. A purple colour swatch, for example, will
resonate at the same frequency as the crown chakra and the
vibrations will facilitate healing.
To begin this exercise, ensure that the volunteer is lying on their
back on the couch or bed.
Ensure that you have colour swatches for each of the seven major
chakras. You may buy colour swatches online, from dressmakers
or from fabric shops. You may also choose to make your own
Below, for your convenience I have listed the colours that you will
need along with their corresponding chakras:
• Root: Red
• Sacral: Orange
• Solar Plexus: Yellow
• Heart: Green
• Throat: Blue
• Brow: Indigo
• Crown: Purple
This treatment works best if you do not use a blanket over the
torso area but, in order to keep the individual’s legs warm, you
may use a blanket by placing it over the legs all the way to the feet.
You can now apply the colour swatches.
Take your chosen colour swatches and place them in order on the
chakras, working from the Root up to the Crown. The colour
swatch for the Crown Chakra can sit comfortably at the top of the
head.
Now, ask the volunteer to focus on the Root Chakra. You may need
to show them where each of the chakras are as you talk through
this exercise.
Next, ask the volunteer to imagine that a deep red colour is being
absorbed into the area of the Root Chakra.
Now, ask them to take a deep breath and, as they do so, continue
to imagine that a deep red colour is being absorbed into the Root
Chakra.
As they breath out any excess energy is released out into the
Universe.
Ask the volunteer to repeat this exercise 5 more times at their own
pace.
Allow the volunteer to simply focus on the energy in the Root
Chakra for 2 minutes.
Now repeat the exercise with the other 6 chakras in turn.
At the end of the exercise you can play some healing music and
leave the room for 20 minutes to allow the person to relax. This
also allows the vibrations from the colour swatches to continue
their healing work.
End the session by carrying out the aura sweeping exercise so that
you can ground any excess energy within the energy field.
MEDITATION
Most of us know that meditation is good for us, but most of us do
not realise that meditation can help to protect and cleanse your
aura and your chakras too. Try out the following meditations and I
am sure that you will feel the positive benefits in a very short time.
Morning Visualisation & Chakra Balancing
Get into your comfortable position and in your mind imagine that
the sun is beginning to rise in the distance.
Allow your mind to relax by counting back from 10 to 0 and, after
each count down, say the world “relax” silently to yourself.
By now your body and your mind will be relaxed.
We will now begin to focus on the chakras.
Begin with the Root Chakra. Focus on the area at the base of the
spine. See or feel the chakra spinning. Does the chakra appear to
be spinning too slowly for you? If so, speed it up and imagine that
the chakra is spinning with a beautiful and healthy ruby red colour.
Focus your attention on the Root Chakra for as long as you feel it is
necessary and, when you are ready, allow your visualisation of the
Root Chakra to fade away and begin to concentrate on the area a
few inches above the Root Chakra in the area of the navel. This is
the Sacral Chakra.
Repeat the same process with the Sacral Chakra as you did with
the Root Chakra.
The colour of this chakra is orange. See or feel the Sacral Chakra
spinning. Is the chakra spinning at the correct speed for you? Stay
with your visualisation of the Sacral Chakra for as long as it is
comfortable for you and, when you are ready, once again release
any visualisation and move on to the next chakra.
Begin to focus on the area of the Solar Plexus, this chakra is yellow.
Focus your attention on this area. Does the chakra feel that it is
spinning at the correct speed for you? If not speed it up. Does the
colour look like a healthy yellow sunshine, or is it dull? If you feel
that the colour does not appear to be quite right then flood the
Solar Plexus Chakra with colour and energy.
Stay focused on the Solar Plexus Chakra for as long as it feels right
for you. When you are ready release your visualisations and begin
to focus on the Heart Chakra.
The heart is the centre of your Universe and your emotions.
The colour of the Heart Chakra is jade green. As you focus your
attention in this area, imagine that your Heart Chakra is flowing at
the optimum level for you. If the colour appears to be too light, or
too dull, imagine flooding the heart with a beautiful shade of jade
green. Allow the chakra to flow at the level that is right for you.
When you are ready, allow your visualisation to fade and focus
your attention on the Throat Chakra. Perhaps you can feel if the
chakra is too small or too large. The colour of the Throat Chakra is
light blue. If necessary, flood the Throat Chakra with energy and
colour, then allow the chakra to flow at the right speed for you.
When you are ready allow your visualisations to fade and focus
your attention onto the Third Eye or Brow Chakra, which is
situated between the eyebrows.
As you focus on this area imagine a beautiful healthy indigo chakra
spinning in between the eyebrows. Focus on the chakra and flood
the chakra with colour and light if you need to.
*Please note that you may need to limit your time focusing on this
chakra as you may feel quite dizzy if your focus remains in this area
for too long.*
When you are ready, allow your visualisation to disappear and
focus your attention on the Crown Chakra.
Found at the crown of the head this chakra is made up of the
beautiful colour violet. As you allow your attention to turn to the
crown of your head you may feel the chakra spinning and, when
you do this, you may feel or see the colour and speed of the
chakra as it spins and rotates above your crown. Flood the area
with light and colour if you need to and allow the chakra to spin at
the optimum speed for you.
When you are ready, release your visualisation of the Crown
Chakra.
Allow your mind to become neutral for a moment, allow the world
to be still.
When you are ready say either silently to yourself, or out loud, an
affirmation that you will accept in your heart and mind and one
that will set you up for the day.
For example: “I am now ready to embrace my day with love and
compassion for all.”
You can make up your own affirmation and it can be as long or
short as you like, but you must be prepared to accept it in your
heart and mind.
After you have stated your affirmation, close your eyes and
imagine that the sun is now high in the sky and that you are ready
to start your day.
Aura Cleansing Meditation
Allow yourself time to become comfortable and still when sitting in
your favourite place for meditation.
Play some relaxing music, or burn some incense or candles if you
wish to.
Focus on your Crown Chakra and allow Universal love and light to
flow all of the way from the crown of the head to the Root Chakra.
Now imagine that the light has begun to expand, moving outwards
from each side of your spine, working outwards through the whole
of the Auric Field.
Feel your aura expand as far as you are willing to let it go.
Allow your heart to fill with love and compassion and feel the love
and light in your heart.
Stay in this position for a while, connecting and feeling connected
to the Universe.
When you are ready, release your visualisations and imagine that
your feet are firmly rooted to the ground.
Stay in this position for a moment and connect with Mother
Nature.
Be thankful for what you have and take a moment to be grateful
before ending this meditation.
Evening Sunset Meditation
This is an ideal meditation to carry out an hour or so before you go
to bed. If you choose to carry out this meditation on a regular basis
you will find that you will sleep and feel better.
Sit in a comfortable position and ensure that you have enough
time to relax.
Begin by imagining that you are sitting on a beach watching the
start of a beautiful sunset.
Now imagine that all around you there is a beautiful golden
glowing light.
As you sit there watching the sunset, your mind turns to the events
of the day.
You think about what you have done, what you have said and what
has happened.
Run through the day’s events slowly in your mind.
When you have finished doing this, ask yourself if there is anything
that you would have done or said differently.
If there is something that you could have said or done differently,
accept in your mind and your heart that the past cannot be
changed but how you think and feel about it can.
Say a positive affirmation that will be accepted not only in your
heart, but in your soul.
Release the visualisation of the beautiful sunset in your own time.
When you go to bed you will be able to sleep deeply, safe in the
knowledge that you have learnt from any mistakes that you have
made and that tomorrow is another day in a Universe full of love,
light and hope for those who seek it out.
