ABSTRACT
Dahabshill money transfer is an international money transfers. It is the largest money-transfer
business in Africa that provides financial services to international organizations both large and
small businesses and private individuals.

INTRODUCTION

DAHABSHIIL MONEY TRANSFER

Dahabshiil is an international funds transfer company headquartered in Dubai, United Arab


Emirates .Formed in the early 1970s, the firm operates from over 24,000 outlets and employs
more than 2,000 people across 126 countries. Currently company is co-owned by daughter
Maryam Abdi . It provides financial services to international organizations, as well as to both
large and small businesses and private individual The company is also involved in numerous
community building projects in Somaliland. .
It is the largest money-transfer business in Africa

Most of the major international development organizations operating in horn of Africa use
Dahabshiil to transfer funds, including the UN, WHO, World Bank, Oxfam, Save the
Children and Care International

Dahabshiil opened an Islamic bank, Dahabshil Bank International, in Djibouti. An international


bank, DBI provides services to business and private clients demanding Shariah-compliant
financing. Operations centre on asset finance, partnership finance and lease finance.

 Customer care work and researching names through the computer


 Researching the customers money using their names , the sender names or using their
phone number through the computer .
 Reprinting the receipts for sending & receiving clients .

 Did cash reconciliation physical cash against the computer system cash stock
 Did formatting of a new computer
 Did hard disk partitioning and spacing
 Opening computer and seeing the component
 Using two hard disk on one computer configuring one to be slave
 Installation of new RAM on a computer after the old failed
 Installation of office packages to a new machines
 Installation of a fresh printer and scanner to a new machine
 Did hardware resources sharing on a network sharing of a printer on a LAN using IP
address
 Did crimping of RJ45 connector to network cables using crimping tool

Evaluation of the project


The purpose of Industrial Training is to expose students to real work of environment
experience and at the same time, to gain the knowledge through hands on observation and
job execution. From the industrial training, the students will also develop skills in work ethics,
communication, management and others. Moreover, this practical training program allows
students to relate theoretical knowledge with its application in the manufacturing industry.

The objectives of industrial training are:

 To provide students the opportunity to test their interest in a particular career
before permanent commitments are made.
 To develop skills and techniques directly applicable to their careers.
 To expose students to real work environment experience gain knowledge in
writing report in technical works/projects.
 To build the strength, teamwork spirit and self-confidence in students life.
 To enhance the ability to improve students creativity skills and sharing ideas.
 To build a good communication skill with group of workers and learn to learn
proper behavior of corporate life in industrial sector.
 The student will be able instilled with good moral values such as
responsibility, commitment and trustworthy during their training.

Success of the project:

At the end of the attachment, I was able to perform most of the tasks under minimal or no
supervision including:

 Crimping, replacing and manage of Ethernet cable in computers and printers.


 Troubleshooting both network and computer hardware.
 Configuration and troubleshooting on network RJ45 detecting of network failure on
faulty cable and wiring closet and termination of patch cords.
 Data backup and transfer on desktops and laptops.
 Structure cabling and troubleshooting i.e. crimping.
 Installation of new RAM on a computer after the old failed
 Installation of office packages to a new machines
 Installation of a fresh printer and scanner to a new machine
 Did hardware resources sharing on a network sharing of a printer on a LAN using IP
address

Conclusions:
During my stay at dahabshiil money transfer I was able to gain a lot of knowledge and different
types of skills that will enable me to work well with my colleagues when I eventually become
employed in any organization or company.

I have gained a lot from my supervisor who has always given me the opportunity to handle
different tasks and has always been a good advisor on what to do as an IT student whenever I
present any problem to him. There is also motivation from the staff since they assign you some
duties and require you to at least complete it at a certain required time.

It is good for an IT student to always have an external attachment this is because when the
student goes out there he/she is able to practically apply what is taught in class and also learn and
update himself/herself with the new technologies that are coming up since technology keeps on
improving day by day, and he/she comes across many things he never knew.

Recommendations:
I propose that every institution management to impose more the one attachment before the end of
the student course completion. One attachment should be mandatory and the second one
optional. This will equip the learners with more practical skills ready to deliver to the outside
world.

The main challenge during the attachment period was on time taken to get to master the technical
terms and a few processes. I would recommend the Institution to encourage class trips to various
companies so as to prepare the students psychologically to the outside world
