HAZARDS
 Refer SSI Safety Program
Non-compliance of SSI Safety Program  Obtain hot work permit
 Conduct Tool Box Talk
 Enclose the area to be spray painted by
Unauthorized Personnel Tarpaulin.
 Post warning notice.
 Asses & Identify the safety override (flammable

/ toxic gas detector) required for the work..
Planning Equipment
 Ensure the area where sand blasting will take
Presence of Flammable / Toxic Vapors
place is free from flammable / toxic vapor
 Ensure the equipment / tool to be used for
spray paining (such as Spray Paint Gun,
Hoses, pump etc) are free from defect.
Defective Tools / Equipment
 The spray paint gun & hose are adequately
bonded to prevent accumulation of electrostatic
charges.
 Obtain MSDS for the paint as well as thinner.
 Wear the required PPE (Long Sleeve Coverall,
Exposure to Harmful Vapor Apron, Face Shield & suitable respiratory
protection etc.).
 Ensure proper ventilation of the area.
 Ensure there is no naked flame or spark
generating equipment in the area where spray
painting is to be done.
Fire & Explosion  Never smoke in the area where spray paining is
in progress.
 Keep the suitable fire extinguishers in ready
Painting condition.
 Do not eat or smoke wearing a paint soaked
coverall / gloves
Contaminated Clothing  Clean / dispose safely the paint soaked coverall
/ gloves.
 Wash properly before consuming any food.
 Do not leave unattended the Spray Paint Gun &
Hose with on condition.
Un-attended Equipment / Tool
 Isolate the equipment from all source of energy
when not in use.
 Store the paint & thinners in safe & designated
Unsafe Storage of Paint & Thinner
location away from source of ignition.
 Ensure proper wind up & housekeeping at
worksite.
Windup & Housekeeping Scattered Materials  The accessories (spray paint gun, hoses &
pump) not being used must be disconnected
and stored separately.
