activities
The accuracy and effectiveness of reporting largely
depends on the master data
Master data is the back bone of day-to-day transactions. It
is essential that the master data is accurate and flawless
As the same data is shared by all the users of different
locations, due care should be taken while maintaining
master data

Flow for creation of Material Code (Example)

Flow for creation of Material Code (Example)
1. Request created for material code creation
2. Request approved by respective HODs as per MM views concerned
3. Document sent to Central Team for creation of Material code
4. Central Team checks if the material exists in Current Material Master
– If Material code is not available –
• Creates a new code as per the codification and text logic
• Communication is made to the requester and Local team about the new material
code
– Available according to Central Team –
• Sends the information to dedicated Technical team for confirmation that material is
based on the same specs
• Technical team will communicate answer to the central team.
• Upon the decision of technical team
– Existing code is extended and communicated to requester and Local team or
– New code is created and communicated to requester and Local team
Immediately upon creation of New Material code, ensure that communication
is made to the Plant to make appropriate changes in BOM and other relevant
Masters. Responsibility: Local Team
NOTE: Organisation must ensure that new code is created within 12 hrs (after
request is received) in case of new material and 36 hrs (after request is
received) if a check with technical team is required

Creating a request
On completion of your request, you will receive an email
confirmation along with the details of the master code
created.
For creating a request for masters other than Materials,
Services or Vendors
– Click on Download Formats to download an excel file.
– Fill in the format in the excel
– Printout the form and have it approved by your HoD
– Create a helpdesk notification using SAP GUI and attached the
format to your notification
