Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
         Ensure designs relating to pipework and pumping stations are delivered to a high technical standard
         Apply technical engineering techniques and methods using international design standards such as
          AUS,AUS, US, and UAE Electrical Design Codes;
         Prepare drawing markups and other design related documents;
         Oversee the project's detailed design and calculation;
         Supervise the design and drawing preparation processes;
         Ensure design resources are working effectively and efficiently;
         Conduct internal review and quality checks of engineering drawings and design calculations to ensure
          compliance with the project's requirements;
         Liaise with other disciplines within the Water Infrastructure Project Team for coordination Water and
          Wastewater works and ensure all requirements are understood;
         Prepare and register all relevant documentation and design reports and ensure all documentation is
          accurate and in compliance with the Cardno's requirements;
         Regularly liaise with the Design Manager to keep informed of all developments or changes associated
          with the project;
         Identify risks and potential deviations to the project's required scope of work;
         Ensure compliance with scope of works, time schedule and cost control;
         Deliver technically complete design documentation, summary reports and technical reports for
          Design Managers;
COMMERCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
         Provide input into the sector strategy/ business plans, as required, and contributing towards its
          achievement;
         Proactively manage selected projects (or components of projects), take responsibility for resource
          allocation, manage subcontractors, manage the production of analysis and design (including drawings
          and reports), ensure the integrity of the overall design (in collaboration with other design disciplines),
          quality assurance and client feedback
         Identify opportunities and driving implementation of re-engineering strategies to maximise the
          profitability of design components
         Gain a good understanding of the background of the client’s business and industry to facilitate
          building effective and enduring relationships and consolidate both company and personal credibility
          in the industry
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
         Resource and develop skills and knowledge base of Design, Assistant and Graduate Engineers
          assigned to projects
         Familiarize the CIBSE Training and Development Scheme and render mentoring duties to all Design,
          Assistant, and Graduate Engineers based on the CIBSE Competence Criteria
         Direct the work and manage performance of Computer Drafting Technicians and Technical Assistants
          assigned to projects
         Provide leadership, direction and technical advice to project team members, take a proactive role in
          developing team members to their full potential, lead by example to achieve sector/divisional goals
          and champion a quality, innovative and entrepreneurial culture
         Communicate with team members to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with,
          sector/discipline business plans
OTHERS:
      Liaise with Cardno lead offices representatives and other consultants as appropriate to the project;
      Working to achieve project delivery on time to budget and to a high standard in accordance with
       Client expectations;
      Take responsibility for defined tasks within prescribed limits;
      Gain experience and proficiency in Cardno systems and procedures;
      Become familiar and compliant with Health and Safety regulations and guidelines;
      Perform other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager or Cardno
       Consulting
Qualifications and Experience
      Caesar II Pipe stress Analysis
      Hydraulic calculations with Pumping Stations and Pipelines
      Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from recognized University;
      Belong to the top 20% of the engineering class;
      Licensed Registered Mechanical Engineer (RME);
      More than 10 years minimum relevant post-graduate experience;
      Working towards Chartered Engineer status or equivalent licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer
       (PME) is an advantage but is not required:
      Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
      Ability to provide solutions to technical problems;
      Excellent mathematical skills applied in engineering calculations;
      Ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegating skills;
      Organizational skills and proactive approach in project management;
      Highly proficient in the application of international design standards: AUS, US, and UAE;
      Highly proficient in the following mechanical engineering design fundamentals: heating, ventilation,
       and air conditioning, etc.;
      Knowledgeable in AUTOCAD;
      Highly proficient in using the following engineering software: REVIT IES, HAP, SKETCHUP, PIPEFLO
