Calculating Unconditioned Space Areas

This document provides an example of how to calculate the heat transfer of an unconditioned space. It lists the areas, U-values, and other relevant properties of the exterior surfaces that make up the unconditioned space, including the east, south, and west walls, north adjacent wall, roof, and fenestrations. Notes specify that the upper floor west wall and floor slab are omitted from calculations as they lead to other unconditioned spaces. The floor height is given as 3.16 meters.

NOTES:

1. The West facing wall of the uppermost floor is leading towards another
unconditioned space (e.g. washroom) and is therefore not considered in the
calculation.

2. The floor slab is considered as leading towards an unconditioned space and is

also omitted from calculations.

3. Floor height taken as 18.96m/6 = 3.16m
