A Venn diagram is used to show how two characters are the same.
Same characteristics are written in the middle part of the diagram.
It also shows how the characters are different from each other.
Different characteristics are written on the left part and on the
right part of the diagram.
5. Guided Practice
Cat and Dog live in the same house. They both like eating meat.
They also like playing with a ball. There are things that they do
differently. Cat says, meow, meow. Dog says, arf! arf! Cat
sleeps in a basket. Dog sleeps on a round pillow.
6. Exercise (Group Activity)
The class is divided into four groups. Each group is given a story card and an
answer sheet. The groups write the information given on the Venn diagram
that is given to them.
Ana and Brenda like playing doll together. They also like
catching worms. There are things that they like differently. Ana
likes color red. Brenda likes color blue.
Cam and Dana have the same favorite fruit. They like apple.
They also like watching cartoons together. There are things that
they like differently. Cam likes to read stories. Dana likes to draw
pictures.
Eva and Fe like playing in the playground together. They also like
eating ice cream. There are things that they like differently. Eva
likes color pink. Fe likes color violet.
Ginny and Harry have the same favorite food. They like
spaghetti. They also like to drink juice. There are things that
they like differently. Ginny likes to sing. Harry likes to dance.
7. Formative Assessment
Compare and contrast the characters in the story by using a Venn diagram.
Jen and Ken both like dogs. They also like doing their
assignments together. There are things that they like differently.
Jen likes playing dolls. Ken likes toy trucks.
