This calculation sheet is the property of the TECHNIP Group and shall not be disclosed to others or reproduced in any
manner without its permission.
1 REFERENCE
This note is in accordance with DATA BOOK, Chapter I, rv 3 of TECHNIP GE/P312/1.1.2
2 ASUMPTIONS
- baffle height is equal to iLSHH level
- When used, the baffle is immerged (no overflowing baffle)
- Volumes are calculated without taking into account the drum ends
Note: Drums section of the Technip data book is to be known regarding drum design criteria before using this worksheet.
3 VALIDITY DOMAIN
NA
4 GOAL
Purposes are multiple:
- To round the levels given by the computer calculations and check if criteria are still respected.
- To compare two geometries (boot or not, )
- To use a sheet as a normal calculation sheet (revamping, )
5 HOW TO USE THIS WORKSHEET
There is two main ways to use this excel sheet:
1) Computer drum arrangement:
Based on the:
- Fluid data
- Drum geometry
- Design criteria
Computer calculations can be started (by pressing "calculate" button) in order to determine the drum diameter as well as the lev
corresponding to the design criteria, results are displayed in the computer results section.
2) User drum arrangement:
Based on the:
- Fluid DATA
- Design criteria
User must (in the user selection section)
- Choose a geometry (or copy the one used for computer calculations)
- Fix the levels (or copy the ones given by the computer calculations)
The various parameters are calculated and formatted with respect to design criteria satisfaction.
6 DATA
The drum can have a baffle and/or a boot.
This excel sheet is able to calculate/design 2 phases (with different mixtures) and 3 phases separators:
2 phases:
- Gas & Oil
- Gas & Water
- Gas & Oil/Water mixture
- Oil & Water
3 phases:
- Gas & Oil & Water

Calculation note
Bugs/Problems encountered:
- If the mini levels (in the design criteria part of the sheet) are not expected values (i.e. the most restricting values and n
desired values), the program will crash during its initialisation (note that indicative values are given in the cells notes for help).
Commonly, this sheet/program have not been debugged for abnormal use and unexpected values entered by the user.
- Protection problem: impossibility to open a case created by someone else in certain cases.
