Description of the DialUp GUI

Launching the DialUp


To launch the DialUp, double-click the shortcut icon

on the desktop.

Shortcut Icons
The following table lists the shortcut icons provided by the DialUp.

The following table lists the status information that can be displayed by the DialUp.

: indicates that the PC is connected to the network.

: indicates that the PC is disconnected from the network.

Internet Service

Connecting to the Internet


After you set the network connection parameters correctly, do as follows to connect to the
Internet:

Click Settings. Then on the Dial-Up tab, select the correct modem and click OK.
Select the correct Network Access Point in the drop-down combo box.

Note:

If no dial-up profile has been created, no Network Access Point is displayed in the
drop-down combo box. You should create a dial-up profile first, and then you can
select the correct Network Access Point. To create a dial-up profile, please see
Creating a Dial-Up Profile in chapter3 Settings and Information Query.
Click Connect to set up the connection.
Launch the browser on the PC to browse the Web.

Note:
y When the connection is set up, the main window displays the details about the
current network connection.
y After the connection is set up, you can click Disconnect to disconnect the
network connection.

Traffic Information
Viewing the Traffic Information
With the feature of displaying the traffic information, you can check the network traffic.

to display the Traffic Info window.

In the navigation tree, click the following tabs to display the corresponding traffic
diagram:

y Transfer: to view the connection duration, upload and download speeds, and uploaded
and downloaded traffics of the current connection.
y Statistics: to view the time that you cleared the traffic information last time and to view
the uploaded and downloaded traffic of the current day, current month, or current year.
Note:
The traffic information is only for your reference. The actual traffic is accounted
on the basis of the traffic data collected by the network service provider.

Clearing the Traffic Information


To clear the traffic information, do as follows

In the navigation tree, right-click a tab.


Choose Reset.
In the displayed dialog box, click Yes.

Settings and Information Query

Switching a Language
The DialUp provides multiple user interface languages for you.
When the software is running, you can choose Tools > Language to switch between the
languages.

Startup Settings
You can set the DialUp to start up automatically with Windows or minimize the window
after startup.
1. Choose Tools > Options.
2. Click General in the navigation tree.
3. Click the Startup tab.
4. You can choose the following options:
y Launch on Windows startup: The DialUp starts automatically with Windows.
y Minimize window on startup: The DialUp window is automatically minimized after the
DialUp starts.
5. Click OK to complete the settings.

Connection Profile Management


To display the Dial-Up dialog box, do as follows:

Choose Tools > Options.


Click Profile Management in the navigation tree.
Click the Dial-Up tab.

For details about setting the profile, contact your service provider.

Creating a Dial-Up Profile

Click New to set the profile name, access number, user name, password, access point
name (APN), and APN status.
Click Advanced to set the IP information, authentication protocol, Domain Name
Server (DNS), and Windows Internet Name Service (WINS).
Click OK to save the advanced settings and return to the Dial-Up dialog box.
Click OK and the Prompt dialog box is displayed.
Click Yes to save the settings; click No to cancel the settings.

Editing a Dial-Up Profile

In the Profile Name drop-down combo box, select a profile.


Click Edit to change the profile name, access number, user name, password, APN, and
APN status, and select a default device.
Click Advanced to set the IP information, authentication protocol, DNS, and WINS.
Click OK to save the advanced settings and return to the Dial-Up dialog box.
Click OK and the Prompt dialog box is displayed.
Click Yes to save the settings; click No to cancel the settings.

Deleting a Dial-Up Profile

In the Profile Name drop-down combo box, select a profile.


Click Delete.
In the Prompt dialog box, click Yes to delete the dial-up profile; click No to cancel the
deletion.

FAQ

What Should I Do If I Cannot Access the Internet?

Ensure that you are in the service area where network signals can be received.
If network signals can be received, ensure that you have activated the wireless network
access service. For information about how to activate the service, consult the local
network service provider.
If the wireless network access service has been activated, see "Internet Service" for the
relevant configuration procedure.
