PrefaceGovernment has fixed the procedure regarding school admission


vide Government Resolution dated 11 June, 2010. Besides other
provisions of admission, the said Government Resolution also contains
provision regarding age of child for school admission. As per the said
provision the age limit of child for admission to Std I has been fixed as
6 years. However, it has been mentioned in the order that the child who
has completed five years of age will be eligible for admission to Std I.
The state contains various types of schools having syllabus of state
board, CBSE, ICSE, IB etc. In all the said types of schools at the time of
giving admission to Std I different age limit at different dates are
admissible. Similarly, there exists no fixed condition of age for admission
to pre-primary classes. Considering the said points, in order to suggest
measures for bringing unanimity of views a one-member committee was

formed under the chairmanship of Director of Education (Primary). As


per the recommendations of the said committee, the matter of fixing of
minimum age limit of child for admission to Std I and pre-primary
(playgroup/nursery) was under consideration of the Government.
The provision in the Government resolution dated 11 June, 2010
regarding age of child for school admission is hereby omitted vide the
said Government resolution.
