MGO/MDO
Cooling System
To reduce SOx emissions from coastal trading ships and in environmental sensitive areas,
the following regulations have been implemented worldwide.
z EU Directive 2005/33/EC
z California Air Resources Board (CARB)
z IMO MARPOL Annex VI 2008
Due to increasing environmental legislations on SECA, engines will operate on distillate
fuels (marine gas oil (MGO) and marine diesel oil (MDO)) in the future, which will be
exposed to risks of low lubrication. DMA MGO cooling system has several solutions to
reduce fuel temperature, either by sea water / fresh water cooling, or chilled water,
depending on the bunkered grade on board.
Since 2010, DMA has supplied over 150 ship sets of MGO cooling systems to shipyards
and ship owners, including retrofitting for existing vessels.
