Floor Plan Symbols
Hi There,
Other interesting stuff youll find on my site...
This is your floor plan symbol file. There are two sets of symbols drawn to two different
scales:
1. US measurement system - one-eighth-inch-to-the-foot (1/8"=1'-0") (1:96)
2. Metric measurement system - one centimetre to the metre (1cm=1m) (1:100) I know
that professional designers work in terms of mm but for most of us cm are more intuitive
so I made the call to stick with cm.
Room Layouts A look at the layout of fixtures and furniture
for each room in the home. Eg Kitchen design and bathroom
design.
http://www.houseplanshelper.com/design-a-room.html
If youd like me to produce these symbols to a different scale, please let me know.
The beauty of having the symbols drawn to scale is that you can use them in scale drawings.
To preserve the scale when you print the file out make sure your printer doesnt scale the pdf
before you print it. After youve chosen to print the file there should be options on the
screen to specify if you want the file the actual size or fitted to the page. You want to choose
actual size here. It works fine with Letter or A4 sized paper.
Once youve printed the file out check the length of the first symbol the scale bar to make
sure that no scaling has been applied. The US measurement scale bar should be 3 inches
long. The metric scale bar should be 10cm long.
I hope you find the symbols useful. If theres any extra symbols youd like me to include
please let me know.
Meg.

Remember to leave at least 30 inches between the edge of the table and a wall to
allow people to take their seats. It will still be very tight if people get up in the
middle of the meal. If possible a distance of 48 inches would be best. If there is a rug
under the table it should be at least 30 inches larger than the table on each side.
