Raha International School Improvement Plan

Whole School Goals
Goal 1 - Provide additional shade, guidance and supervision, to ensure students and staff are not overly
exposed to the sun.
Goal 2- Improve the quality of transitional planning as students move through the different IB
programmes, to ensure greater continuity in learning.
Goal 3 - Ensure that teaching and learning are of a consistently high quality, particularly in the secondary
school so that all lessons have the pace, energy and sense of challenge seen in the best lessons.
Goal 4- Further develop students understanding and appreciation of UAE culture and heritage.
Goal 5- Achieve accreditation with CIS/NEASC and successful evaluation achieved for all three IB
programmes.
Goal 6- Increase range and improve the quality of after school programmes for students.
Goal 7 - Achieve enrollment targets by February 2014.
Goal 8 - Expand membership of Advisory Board to achieve better representation from parents across
the different sections of the school and enhance the effectiveness of decision making.
Goal 9 - Obtain an approved plan for the completion of the school parking lot and bus pick up and drop
off area and complete Phase 1 on construction.

Goal 10 - Establish a functioning whole school social committee
Secondary Goals
Goal 1- The number of students achieving their IB diploma will meet or exceed the current world
average (78.24%).
Goal 2- Secondary teachers will complete a minimum of two peer observation forms before May 31,
2014 based on class visits to other classes in their panel.
Goal 3- Schedule and hold student year level assemblies once a month and whole school assemblies
twice per semester from September to May.
Goal 4- Revise and implement learning support policies and appoint EAL/SEN teachers as required to
meet the needs of students.
Goal 5- Math attainment levels in the MYP will register good progress.

Goal 6- Establish a House System in the MYP to foster a sense of community and belonging among
students.
Goal 7- In the classroom, teachers show evidence of collaborative planning
Goal 8-Review and improve Interdisciplinary Links in the MYP programme
Goal 9- In 80% of the MYP classes observed, effective differentiation strategies are observed and
recorded.
Goal 10- 70% of all diploma students receive at least 1 additional core point based on the results of their
Extended Essay and TOK essay.
Primary Goals
Goal 1 Improve the ISA Mathematics Test scores by 10%.
Goal 2 Construct a recycling centre within the school.
Goal 3 - Completing the Early Learning Centre outdoor education area to the original specifications.
Goal 4 Complete the First Steps Reading Professional Development programme.
Goal 5 Reduce the consumption of photocopy paper by 10%.
