SITE FURNISHINGS  GFRC PRECAST CONCRETE  
PART 1 - GENERAL  
1.1  SUMMARY  
A.  Section Includes:  Manufactured architectural precast concrete planter pots.   
1.2  SUBMITTALS  
A.  General:  Submit in accordance with Section 01330 Submittal Procedures.  
B.  Product  Data:    Submit  Form  and  Fiber  Inc.  technical  product  data  for  Chisel  precast  concrete 
planter pots.  
C.  Submit following Informational Submittals: 
1.  Qualification Data:  Manufacturers qualification data.   
1.3  QUALITY ASSURANCE  
A.  Single  Source  Responsibility:    Provide  architectural  precast  concrete  planters  from  one 
manufacturer with consistent color and finish.   
1.4  DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING  
A.  Comply with manufacturers requirements.  
B.  Transport, store, and handle concrete units in an upright position.  
C.  Protect  base,  edges,  inside  and  outside  rim  to  prevent  staining,  cracking,  chipping,  spalling, 
bowing and warping.  
D.  Use equipment and methods for transportation, site handling and installation as recommended by 
manufacturer.  
E.  Storage: 
1.  Store  units  off  ground,  preferably  on  a  wood  pallet,  and  in  manner  to  prevent  cracking, 
staining or other physical damage. 
2.  Place  stored  units  in  a  singular  upright  position  and  according  to  manufacturer 
specifications. 
3.  Store so that singular units are accessible and undamaged.  
F.  Protect drainage holes from water and ice during freezing weather.   
PART 2 - PRODUCTS  
2.1  MANUFACTURER

2.2  MATERIALS  
A.  GFRC/ Lightweight Concrete:  Manufacturers proprietary blend of portland cement, sand, water, 
pumice pozzolan, fiberglass fibers, and admixtures, including color pigment. 
1.  Use only one brand, type and source of cement for entire Project. 
2.  Standard Manufacturer Colors:  White ______ or Natural Gray ______.

3.  Colors:  Custom  color  pigment  as  selected  from  Davis  Colors,  a  trademark  of  Rockwood 
Pigments.  
B.  Water:  Clean, and drinkable.  
C.  Sealants:  
1.  Inside Sealant, water-based polyurethane, high-solid coating. UV stable, non-yellowing. 
2.  [Optional]  Outside  Sealant,  high  quality,  breathable,  solvent-based  100%  acrylic,  semi-
gloss sealant. UV stable, non-yellowing. Applied at 28 days or longer. 
3.  [Optional]  Outside  Sealant,  high  quality,  breathable,  water-based  penetrating  sealant.  UV 
stable, non-yellowing. Applied at 28 days or longer.   
2.3  FABRICATION - GENERAL  
A.  Formwork: 
1.  Fabricate steel forms for close control of dimensions and details. 
2.  Fabricate forms sufficiently rigid to meet casting tolerances. 
3.  Coat formwork with form release agent.  
B.  Casting: 
1.  Provide GFRC precast concrete mix for full unit face coat. 
2.  Provide GFRC precast concrete mix for backing coat. 
3.  Cast units to minimum 3/4" - 1" inch thickness. 
4.  If integral color is specified, color to be applied to both face and backing coats. 
5.  Provide optional drainage hole according to manufacturer specifications.  
6.  Fabricate  units  to  required  profiles  and  sizes.  Execute  work  accurately  to  specified 
tolerances  and  free  of  broken  edges.    Fabricate  edges  straight  and  with  clean  accurate 
arises. 
7.  Ensure exposed edges and ends match finish and texture of face of unit.   
C.  Curing: 
1.  Protect  units  from  exposure  to  weather  until  concrete  strength  is  adequate  for  form 
removal. 
2.  Cure units under identical conditions.   
2.4  PLANTER POTS

PART 3 - EXECUTION  
3.1  EXAMINATION  
A.  Examine deliveries upon arrival at site to verify each unit is without damage.  
3.2  INSTALLATION  
A.  General: 
1.  Comply with manufacturer's written installation instructions. 
2.  Install  units  without  damage  to  shape  or  finish.    Damage  includes  chips  or  cracks  in 
exposed-to-view areas.

3.  Do not install damaged units, except as approved by Architect. 
4.  Repair [Replace] damaged units. 
5.  Set units level, plumb, square and true within allowable tolerances. 
6.  Install units in final locations and in arrangements, as indicted on Drawings.  
3.3  ADJUSTING  
A.  Adjust each concrete planter pot so that units are in proper location and orientation.  
B.  Drainage  holes  cannot  be  added  to  units  in  the  field  and  must  be  fabricated  during  casting 
process.  
3.4  CLEANING  
A.  Clean dirt or blemishes from surface of exposed units.  
B.  Wash and rinse in accordance with manufacturers recommendations.  
C.  Protect adjacent surfaces from damage due to cleaning operations.  
D.  Do not use cleaning materials or processes which could alter character of exposed finishes.
