Thermostats sense temperature and compare it to a setpoint to control heating and cooling systems to maintain temperature. Pressure transducers measure pressure, typically of gases or liquids, and generate electrical signals to monitor and control systems like boiler pressure. Photosensors are light-dependent resistors whose resistance decreases with increasing light intensity to detect light levels. Motion sensors detect moving objects and can trigger alerts or automation.

INPUT TRANSDUCERS

1. Thermostat is a component of control system which senses the temperature of a system so that the systems' temperature is maintained near a desired setpoint. It maybe a control unit for heating or cooling system or a component part of a heater or airconditioner. ILLUSTR TI!" # The temperature setpoint must be set$ once it is set$ the temperature sensor sense the ambient%actual temperature and compare it to setpoint$ once the actual setpoint has been reached$ the sensor output controls the heating or cooling de&ice.

'. Pressure Transducer ( also )nown as pressure transmitter measures pressure$ typically gases or li*uids. It generates electrical signal as a function of the pressure imposed. It is commonly made of pie+oelectric materials such as *uart+. ILLUSTR TI!" # This is widely used in industrial manufacturing processes. ,-ample are steam boiler machine. Steam pressure inside the &essel of boilers must be )ept in critical attention in order not to e-plode due to e-ceeded steam pressure. It's the function of the pressure transducers to sense or monitor the pressure inside the &essel$ once it reaches the pressure setpoint$ the pressure transducers output controls the furnace in off position.

.. Photosensors ( also )nown as Light /epending Resistor 0L/R1 is a light controlled &ariable resistor. The resistance decreases with increasing incident light intensity. ILLUSTR TI!" # 2hotosensor is made of high resistance semiconductor. In the dar)$ it can ha&e a resistance as high as a few megaohms$ while in the light$ it has a resistance as low as a few hundred ohms.

3. Motion Sensor ( is a de&ice that detects mo&ing ob4ects. It is often integrated as a component of a system that automatically performs a tas) or alerts a user of motion in an area. ILLUSTR TI!" # 5otion sensors form a &ital component in security$ home control$ lighting control$ energy efficiency$ and factory automation.

6. Proximity Sensor ( able to detect the presence of nearby ob4ects without any physical contact. ILLUSTR TI!" # It emits an electromagnetic field and loo)s for a changes in the field or return signal.

7. Humidity Transducer ( is a moisture(sensiti&e de&ice that changes color when the indicated relati&e humidity is e-ceeded. ILLUSTR TI!" # Relati&e humidity is the ratio of the partial pressure of water &apor in an air(water mi-ture to the saturated &apor pressure of water at a prescribed temperature.

8. SONAR (Sound Na i!ation and Ran!in!" #Sound Transducer ( is a sound transducer that uses sound propagation to na&igate$ communicate with or detect ob4ects on or under the surface of the water. ILLUSTR TI!" # 2assi&e and cti&e S!" R are the two types of technology.
