Screening, Diagnostics, Pharmacology and Prescribing for Midwives
Griffith Universitys Screening, Diagnostics, Pharmacology and Prescribing for Midwives course is a new online course preparing midwives for contemporary prescribing practice in Australia. Students will develop the knowledge and skills in screening, diagnostic testing and applied pharmacology required to prescribe medications relevant to the midwifery scope of practice in a legal, effective and safe manner.
Overview
This course (8034NRS) establishes advanced, integrated understanding of the knowledge and skills required for safe and effective prescribing within the legal and regulatory frameworks governing midwifery practice in Australia. Midwifery prescribing is explored from a women-centred, collaborative philosophy and the skills required for effective and respectful communication with women and her other care providers are enhanced. This course enables Medicare Eligible Midwives to meet the requirements for endorsement for scheduled medicines prescribing. Applying
If you hold a current and unrestricted license as a registered midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, you are eligible to apply. You can complete an Application for Admission to a Single Course of Study: griffith.edu.au/ continuing-education-certificates2/how-to-apply

One semester: Admission in Semester 1 or Semester 2
Fees
This is a full-fee paying course and there is no assistance (FEE-HELP) available. The fee is due to be paid prior to the end of Week 4 of the semester in which you are enrolled. Flexible study
This course is delivered online and includes scheduled real time web sessions giving you the flexibility you need to complete your course while managing other work and lifestyle commitments. You will need access to a computer and broadband internet as the course materials and discussion forums are only accessible via learning@griffith. Firefox is the recommended browser and you will also need to have a current version of Adobe Flash and have Java enabled. Please note that not all devices can access content made by Flash including iPads and iPhones.
