All Model 250-C20, C2OB, Bl?, and B17B P/N 6875120 Compressor Bleed Valve Assemblies. Dirt collecting in the compressor bleed valve jet will shift the calibration of the valve assembly. The valve, consequently, will close at a higher Nl than it should for particular operating conditions which significantly affects engine performance. In some instances, the valve head has contacted one or more valve body struts (or legs). In addition to altering the bleed valve calibration schectule, the frictional force may prevent the valve from closing completely. To prevent the calibration shift and incomplete valve closure, a new bleed valve assembly has been released for 250 Series II engines. The new valve features (1) a sharp-edged, thin plate orifice type jet which has demonstrated greater tolerance to dirt laden air and (2) increased radial clearance between the valve body struts and valve head.

DESCRIPTION:

Existing P/N 6875120 Compressor Bleed Valve Assemblies may be reworked to the P/N 6889815 configuration by:

Replacing the conventional type P/N 6875098-68 Jet with the new sharp-edged, thin plate orifice type P/N 6890909-66 Jet. Reworking P/N 6874720 Bleed Valve Body tn the P/N 6889814 configuration to prevent contact between the valve head and body struts. the compressor bleed valve assembly

COMPRESSOR BLEED VALVE ASSEMBLY-REWORK INSTRUCTIONS: Bleed Valve Assembly to P/N 6889815

ACCOMPLISHMENT I.

Rework P/N 6875120 Compressor configuration as follows: A.

Replace P/N 6875098-68 Compressor Bleed Valve Jet with new P/N 6890909-66 Jet. (See Figure 1.) Tighten jet to a. torquevalue of 8-12 lb in. Rework P/N 6874720 Compressor configuration as follows: 1. Bleed Valve Body to P/N 6889814

Increase the strut (or leg) inner diameter from 1.999-1.996 to 2.050 in. (See Figure 2.) The length of the clearance cut is defined by the 0.820 and 0.188-in dimensionis in the body cavity. Finish reworked surfaces to 63 rms. Anodize reworked surfaces per AMS2470 or AMS2471. Reidentify the reworked body by obliterating marking 6889814 per AS478CL-D. old part number and

Obtain a new P/N 6872013 Identification 1.

Plate (blank).

Transfer all information from the old to the new plate except identify the bleed valve assembly as 6889815. Information may be metal stamped, vibro-peened, or scribed. Install the identification plate using two MS2,4621-7 Screws.
